Mario’s evals were right on these kids. Needed to hit a few more but man
Lagway
Smith
Jackson
Shavers
Lucas
All were potential hits at one point.
Who can we get to come home, thoughMaybe I spoke too soon on South Florida declining. Brown, Smith, Shavers, Lucas. You could easily throw OJ Frederique in there, too,
The kid from Minny, safety is a friggen baller. He owned the Army All American game too.
4 of them low end 3 stars, until Lucas earned his 4th star very late, and a can't miss 5 star.Maybe I spoke too soon on South Florida declining. Brown, Smith, Shavers, Lucas. You could easily throw OJ Frederique in there, too,
Literally throw bags at anyone who plays DBWho can we get to come home, though
Hometown boy. Probably will be Minnesota best player in the past 20 years, at least since Maroney.Pay that man, he is an animal.

Visited Ohio State the week before signing day last year. I’m sure a lot will try but he seems sold on being a hometown kid.Yeah, wishful thinking for sure but I’m sure many will try.
The loyalty to state schools from small town kids in the Midwest can be wild. 9 out of the top 10 recruits in Iowa this class are going either Iowa or Iowa St. On the other hand, only 1 out of the top 10 in Indiana is committed to IU. I'd expect them to have some major flips near signing day.Visited Ohio State the week before signing day last year. I’m sure a lot will try but he seems sold on being a hometown kid.

I think Shavers was a case of being too worried about "measurables" for LB recruits vs guys with the instincts to play the position. The latter is far more important - a 210 LB can thrive at the college level if he is good at diagnosing the play (what some call instincts). OTOH a 230 LB who is poor at diagnosing is going to be a lousy LB.4 of them low end 3 stars, until Lucas earned his 4th star very late, and a can't miss 5 star.
Brown - 546 ranked player overall
Shavers - 614 ranked player overall
Lucas - 331 ranked player overall
OJ - 735 ranked player overall
Shavers, admittedly it seems I was wrong on him as well. Can never have enough instinctual linebackers and we let him walk.
We also landed Adarius Hayes and Bobby Pruitt who both look really goodI think Shavers was a case of being too worried about "measurables" for LB recruits vs guys with the instincts to play the position. This was exactly Manny's problem with LB recruiting. He got converted DEs that didn't have the vision/diagnostic ability to play LB.
Shavers is the least of my worries, for the record. I don't know enough about Nebraska but I felt they have recruited well enough under Rhule that he's playing over someone decent if he's on the field. Maybe I'm wrong. We also landed Adarius Hayes and Bobby Pruitt who both look really good
Shavers is playing great and that’s awesome, but I don’t think he would be playing much here if at all just given our depth
