Hidden Points- Punting

Great analysis but I think anybody who watched that LSU game knew nothing had changed and punting was going to continue to kill us - as it did in the ACC Title Game the year before.

I played NAIA ball many moons ago and didn't see three punts for a 25 yard average over a season; let alone the first three of the season, in one game. And my homefield was in Dodge City, Kansas; the 4th windiest city in the world one of my four years playing there.

The Canes offense opens going three and out from the 25 -- gaining only 2 yards and a 20 yard punt gave LSU the ball on Miami's 47. Then follow it up with a 34 and 22 yarders. That stuff will kill you. Let's not forget Willis was Defensive Player of the Week against LSU. The punting in that game was a huge factor.

That punting for 2017 and 2018 seasons was a sad mis-handed situation.

that game you are talking about was the 87 championship game. (I was there).

we were leading at the time, and had actually controlled the game, (OU never led at any point in the game), and needed a trick play funblerooski to score .... but OU was able to get field position towards the middle of the third quarter when it started to rain. in the midst of a typical south florida downpour, jeff feagles rips off a 65+ yard kick into the wind.

never saw anything like it in my life

Thank you for the clarification. I was working from memory on that post.

The 80's have become somewhat of a blur in my memory. If you knew me back then you'd understand. :)
