Great analysis but I think anybody who watched that LSU game knew nothing had changed and punting was going to continue to kill us - as it did in the ACC Title Game the year before.
I played NAIA ball many moons ago and didn't see three punts for a 25 yard average over a season; let alone the first three of the season, in one game. And my homefield was in Dodge City, Kansas; the 4th windiest city in the world one of my four years playing there.
The Canes offense opens going three and out from the 25 -- gaining only 2 yards and a 20 yard punt gave LSU the ball on Miami's 47. Then follow it up with a 34 and 22 yarders. That stuff will kill you. Let's not forget Willis was Defensive Player of the Week against LSU. The punting in that game was a huge factor.
That punting for 2017 and 2018 seasons was a sad mis-handed situation.
