is a solid plugger inside when he's in there and he does make a difference. He does elevate the play of others by his mere presence. Again, I'm not saying he's Jerome Brown or even Damione Lewis, but I think it's clear his loss has been a big blow to this young, smallish D( especially upfront)

I like the progress of Pierre and McCord( who's come on in recent weeks). I can see this coming together( and again, there will be growing pains ,still)

This win was ugly by Alabama standards. By todays UM standards, any win- especially one versus Vatech- is a Mona Lisa

And as they say about winning, it beats the **** out losing

+1. Porter definitely is our best D-lineman. and that includes chick. and yes, i'm basing that off of his approximate 17 quarters of football he's played for us.

Wheres NOTSINCE1985 and everyone else who said Porter wouldnt make a difference and he was just another JAG??

The defensive line looked much better tonight. Guys actually got pressure, played the run strong until they started getting gassed in the 3rd, and even then they still hung on long enough to make some plays.

BTW, I like the young LB'ers, they look very live and athletic. And believe it or not, Jimmy Gaines is coming on a bit.

Tonight the D carried the O in a victory. First time you could say that the whole season, IMO

This, and it wasn't all Porter. They were getting off quicker, sometimes too quick (offsides). Looks like they've been working on that.

Right here. He played well in spurts but that's solid considering it was his first game back. The entire DL stepped it up.

not trolling here. i am completely serious.

he has been injured forever and i can't remember his last significant playing time. what has he shown us ?

Played a lot down the stretch last year and was by all accounts the best interior lineman. Whenever he's been on the field, he gets push. The trouble, however, is getting him on the field.

Dafug? He only played in 2 games last year IIRC, BC and USF. In fact, he's played in only 4 games in the last 2.7 years here.

Kid is like the backup QB when the starting QB is struggling. Overemotional, overreacting fans begin to deify him as the "savior". lol.

He's our best DL. Just gotta pray he can put it all together in 2013.

Where do you people come up with this? His name is Curtis, not Cortez. He is our best DL? He has played in 11 games in 3 years and has 10 total tackles, 2 TFL, no sacks, no QB hurries, no forced fumbles, no fumble recoveries.

Come on. Someone posts a picture of him in the backfield on one play last year and you crown him?

He pretty clearly makes a difference. Where are all the guys mocking everybody who was happy to have him back by acting like everybody was saying that he indeed was a dominant DT?

McCord looks like a beast in-the-making. Can't remember the last time I was this excited over a young DE; Calais probably.

I'm with 1985 on this. The dude's reputation has taken on mythical proportions. The guy is a nice player but has been a non factor most of his career here.

The question isn't "Is Curtis Porter the next Vince Wilfork?"

The question is "Is Curtis Porter better than Darius Smith and Corey King?"

Anyone with some football IQ would say yes to the second question.

That's fine, but people are acting like he's the next Cortez, The DL is still going to suck with him there.

:ohlord::ohlord::ohlord:

Lmao @ Porter not being a JAG.

Guy has played in 11 games. Grimble has played in more games than broke **** Porter.

Alot of the times he didnt make a play, but he demanded a double team which freed up other guys to make the plays. This is what the coaches are looking for

For those that can't see the difference Porter makes, just stop. Just stop. Now Porter gets an extended week to get ready for UVA, having him healthy and in shape is tremendous for our ACC run. My favorite play was the fumble on the 1 yard line where Porter blew up the middle. The guy makes a difference when he is out there and I am glad to have him healthy.

We need to audit the boards and get rid of some of these morons. I can't believe people think he has no impact on the game. Wait our fans are incredibly stupid...carry on.

This is why you don't even consider shirting a kid that can help right now

Which is why they didn't shirt him last year for what 2 games at the end of the year. Porter takes some of the pressure off of Pierre and the rest of the DT's and it showed last night.
