jerome brown started the trend in 87......after Vince in 04...( funny when our slide started) we have no solid play maker Dts...Golden needs to spend all his time looking for a STUD DT and stop going on every TV and radio.....

You guys know our history....huge Dts take over games disrupt game plans and make AVG players look like NFL guys..see the 00-03 team at DB and LB...guys all made great plays due to solid DT play....Just my thoughts on a cool wed morning

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Miami_Hurricanes_in_the_NFL

you can see other areas that dropped off as well...we are not a loaded team as some think....get a couple Stud DT and those others get better real fast....

This is what happens when you have Jethro Franklin as your DL coach

Tell me who has an explosive second step at defensive tackle that is currently on the roster? The last kid Miami had with that type of potential was Marcus Forston and he could not stay healthy and when he was healthy he took too many plays off. That kid had All-American potential, but that's not enough. Valentine and Moten are must signs.

Preach.

Great defenses start and stop with great interior lineman.

Forston was not as good as you think....if he had any potential Bill Belchick in two years with the pats would have made him into something...and no other teams even looked at him for that reason....since Vince we have been okay at best for them

Franklin and coach D are the reason we dont. have stud DT. Both can't recruit and get there *** kicked by Uncle Odell and T-Rob

This "READ" BS doesn't allow you to explode.

No one seems to get that, including our coaches.

The hungry, smash your guy in the mouth and make the play recruits - they don't want to come here.

This isn't rocket science!

At DT:

I am not a fan when you take a 5th year transfer from UVA who was a backup and plug him in at DT giving him serious burn.
I expected more out of Curtis Porter, but he is not the guy that I thought he would be this season. He is being overtaken by Renfrow at the position. As for Luther Robinson, he is a JAG. Pierre was a guy that I thought would make strides this season and that has not happen.

Is it coaching? Maybe

Is it talent? Maybe

The answer is probably wide spread. These guys look the part but don't play like it.

And Wyche and Stuckey.

There is not one player on our d-line that demands a double-team. That is a HUGE problem.

Sapp was the man. As a Canes and Bucs fan, that guy is probably one of my all time favorite players. Sapp, Sean Taylor, Hester...game changers. Off Canes topic, go watch a highlight video of Mike Alstott, holy **** if we had a real full back llike that it would help so much to keep our smaller playmaker backs from getting banged up so much.

Renfrow may be challenging Porter for the starter position, hes just a big body. Hes weak at the point of attack and I often see him getting driven back.

Goes to show that this is what is challenging for our starting DT position

We have a lot more issues than a ****ing defensive lineman.

go on

- constant edge rush
-linebackers that can't cover
-over all speed deficiency on D
-lack of depth and talent at safety
- a d coordinator who refuses to change his scheme
- an erratic and inconsistent qb
- an uncreative OC
- a te who has jugglers hands
- lack of TE depth behind him
- lack of running back depth
- an o line that struggles in short yardage situations
- an unreliable kicker

Solid post minus the stupid "needs to stop going on every tv and radio show" b.s. That is part of recruiting in the year 2014...increasing the visibility of the program.
