Herb Waters

I can't be bold enough to say we are going to have a true number one WR this year. So much talent. Going to be getting the ball to sandland and walford as well as the running backs. If I had to choose a number one for the upcoming, have to say hurns. His experience and concentration is what sets him apart from the others.

Tough to call. Dorsett, Scott, Hurns, Waters, Lewis, Coley, Carter. Any of these guys is liable to breakout.

I feel the same way. I have always thought that out of all the WR's, Rashawn Scott has the most potential. Now Coley is here. Dorsett broke out last season. Lewis was showing flashes. Waters may very well be the best of them all. WHAT A PROBLEM!!!!

If Herb Waters really ran anywhere near a 4.4, or even somewhere around Duke as it was insinuated, he's going to be ridiculous. Because his short area burst is great for a WR, he catches the ball cleanly, and gets in and out of his breaks well.

Anyone who watched the kid run on the football field would not be surprised that he ran close to a 4.4. I remember when our recruitdicks labeled Portis the shifty back who lacked top end speed. I also remember the grassyholics claiming Hank ran a 4.8. Both tags were laughable. As was (is) labeling Waters slow. He's a got **** stud. And a very fast one at that.

Agreed. Waters was constantly running by people. Never got the notion that he was anything but very fast. And he's a very hard worker and a head-nodder. His potential is unlimited. Good call on Portis too. He was supposedly slow too according to the internets, and then he went out and ran a blazing 40 and was considered one of the fastest RBs in the NFL.

I second the notion that we won't have a true number 1. I for one think our reciever core might be a little overrated, based purely on what we've accomplished. We had a ton of drops, inconsistent edge blocking, and were quite effectively blanketed against good competition. Not to say I don't think its very good but this number 1 in the nation talk is mental. Maybe next year, when we only lose Hurns.

I think people are sleeping on Dorsett to be honest. Nobody can stay in front of him and Morris has the strength to throw over the safeties. If he catches those TD's at Notre Dame, I think we have an entirely different view on his season and I wouldn't let one mistake haunt him for too long. Its not like we would have won. It wasn't for lack of effort he just dropped it, has nothing to do with what will happen in the future. He was clearly our best last year and idk why anyone would think he isn't going to progress and be even better.

I think people are evaluating our receiving corps based on their production compared to their experience. Before last season, only Hurns had really played heavy snaps. Dorsett had a handful of catches, Scott had none in games, and everyone else was a freshman. We got big contributions from Dorsett (still in only his third season here), Hurns and Scott (even less experience than Dorsett but ALL the tools you want in a receiver), who all presumably improved...plus the natural progression that guys like Lewis and Waters and Jontavious will make. Add in a freshman with skill like Coley and I get why people are pumped up.

He looked great in the spring game before going out with an injury. He and Scott and Dorsett will be lethal. Add in Hurns, Lewis and Coley. **** just loaded. Morris has to be the happiest man on campus.

Really is perfect situation for the old "great problem to have" cliche. I dunno how these guys are all gonna get the PT that they each seem to be deserving of. And, crazier, Hurns is the only senior and I don't see either of the juniors being early NFL guys. Wish there was more separation between them.

The only measure of speed in football that counts on offense is how guys get caught or don't when they have the ball in the open field. Waters is one of those guys as was Portis who just don't get caught.

Meanwhile people are sweating a 17 year old Lane going to UF or Bama when UM is loaded at WR already not counting Dixon, Berrios, Griffin, and Langham coming in 2014 as well.. All of them 4 star WR and Griffin was top 50 in the nation...

Will be a ton of competition in the fall, no doubt. I think they each will get theirs. Whoever gets open the most and drops the least. Top 5 could be any number of combinations at this point, all of whom can do different things. I think Waters could do serious damage in the slot.

Im on record saying that Stacy Coley is the reason why Ermon Lane will end up at uf. Lane is a career #2 at best with our roster.

I doubt Waters runs a 4.4... He is a good route runner but I believe he is more of the possession wideout... I know the USF catch is still fresh in our minds but if we remember it was an offsides call the USF defense stop playing against and being the heady players they are Morris and Waters connected on the play... Just like Morris did with Dorsett and Scott against NCstate...

I like Waters but I don't see him being more than our number 4 wideout and that's depending on Lewis and Coley's progression...

I think the Duke game is when everyone was talking about how Waters isn't slow.

I don't agree with that reason, but with the talent we have locked up & currently on the roster we are in a good situation. Rightfully people don't want soflo recruits to leave but as we bring in quality we will be good to go.

Why do you doubt it? What's more likely -- our eyes and the players reporting that he's that fast are deceiving us, or that the bull**** 40 reported by some guy during Herb's junior year in high school is just that, bull****?

Exactly why I don't give a **** about Lane. Coley shyts on Lane anyway.
