Herb Waters

Tough to call. Dorsett, Scott, Hurns, Waters, Lewis, Coley, Carter. Any of these guys is liable to breakout.

I'd put money on it to be Scott. I think teams will be queuing in on Dorsett this year after he had some big games last year

If Herb Waters really ran anywhere near a 4.4, or even somewhere around Duke as it was insinuated, he's going to be ridiculous. Because his short area burst is great for a WR, he catches the ball cleanly, and gets in and out of his breaks well.

Anyone who watched the kid run on the football field would not be surprised that he ran close to a 4.4. I remember when our recruitdicks labeled Portis the shifty back who lacked top end speed. I also remember the grassyholics claiming Hank ran a 4.8. Both tags were laughable. As was (is) labeling Waters slow. He's a got **** stud. And a very fast one at that.

Right. He was thought of more as an Alan Hurns type early on but his senior year there were people that were saying he was turning into a different animal. Bakas would talk about him incessantly so I wonder who it was that was feeding him the info he was pawning off on us. Whoever it was knew what they were talking about.

I don't think he leads the team, but the kid plays with a chip on his shoulder and loved the way he fought for a schooly here. He's the type of player that will do whatever is asked of him.

I think the "slow" label had to do more with the way he runs, upright, versus how fast the kid actually is. He is quick there is no denying that. Herb along with Burns were two guys that were looked over when they signed with us due to their disposition, but are the type of playmakers we have been missing here for a long time.

Player name thread titles during the summer scare the **** out of me. Anyone else feel the same?

not with the kids Al is recruiting

Eddie Johnson and Gabe Terry would like a word with you

They need to finish their meeting with Robert Lockhart, Thomas Finnie and Gionni Paul.

Paul, Finnie, Johnson were all players that Golden scrambled for last minute so slice that however you want. Terry is on Golden and think that Lockhart bailed as he was #6 on the WR depth chart. I'll take 1 kid getting in trouble in 2 of Al's solid recruiting classes with kids that have been on campus.

They were still here for two years with him so i take that as ''his'' kids..

to an extent yes, but he had 2 months to recruit them where typically coaches spend 3-4 years recruiting a kid. he needed bodies at that point and threw as much stuff against the wall to see what would stick. these 3 didn't. there is a significant increase in the type of kid that Al himself has brought in with a full year to recruit. Herb Waters is one of them

Im taking the wait and see approach with Waters and the rest of our WRs, save maybe Lewis and definitely Coley. I remember how many of our own were crowning our WR corp back in 09 and 10 as one of the best in the nation, and the possibility of TB, Aldarius and especially Byrd being 1st round talents. There is a lot to be excited about the weapons we have there, but truth be told they all disappeared in all of our big games, and only shined against mostly weak competition. Waters looks like he is gonna be a good one, as you said his burst and fluidity is short areas is impressive, but the top end speed is still a question. That long TD he caught was busted coverage by Webster anyway and it was not a good indication of his speed. Not saying the guy is slow because he is not, but it doesnt mean he is a 4.4 burner either.
