The back story on Canes’ little known D-tackle and the ‘skinny, fast kid’ at D-end again
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/college/acc/university-of-miami/article199149479.html

“We pop in Jordan’s film and we watch it against — I don’t want to go through everybody, but some kids that we ended up not signing, this kid’s senior film is better than all of these other kids,’’ Kuligowski said. “He’s bigger, 6-3, maybe 6-4. He’s 340-something pounds."

“If I had showed you a picture of him at the beach you’d be amazed at how skinny he is for that size. He’s very strong. He’s very explosive."

“He was already going to visit Tennessee the last weekend. Alabama called and offered him later on that day on Friday. So it wasn’t just us that found out about him. When we got word we jumped on it right away.”

As massive, quick and powerful as this kid is and will only grow in strength and technique it deferentially allows Diaz to play a 3-4 at times when needed. He is not just a muscular mass that can tie up blockers but a 340 pound guy that and split double teams, put pressure up the middle and in general and cause havoc.

Kul had 4 1st round picks in 15 years. That is pretty good. Remember when we had a dline coach who had 3 on the same team and one was first pick in draft? Jerome, rip, Tez and Russel, any doubt about Butch being best recruiter and best dline coach ever?

That said, Kul might have two in this class. Jade and Miller fit the profile of those three. Anyone remember who the cornerbacks where on the that team? I can’t for the life of me. I’m ****ed and about the AH smucks, but I love this class. Old school DTs, multiple QBs, and a Blades. That is the stuff NCs are made of. Oh, those two TEs sure help. This is the class that might restore the motto, “or get beat by those who do”.

True but I don’t want him playing with any 3-4 crap. Get both these DTs collapsing the center of the pocket and making QBs pee. Never take a grizzly bear off the field.

Briggs! He's talking about you!! Gotta say, I agree with Coach Kul on this. Miller's senior tape that's out there looks better than the other kids we were recruiting that got away.

It’s possible that a kid this size was just a late bloomer, and that’s why he flew under the radar until his senior year.

Kind of like David Njoku who hit a growth spurt late. And then he blows up in college and everyone is like where the **** did Miami find this guy?

Wouldn't they have seen Miller when they were reviewing tape of Jennings Jr? I mean they were teammates playing on the same side of the ball.

Or am I being a Negative Nancy?

**** it, i'm very excited to see this kid on the field kicking ***! His recruiting videos are awesome you can see he has the it factor: fast off the block, excellent pursue instincts and he hits HARD! i think we got the steal of the NSD

Looks like he was at a different HS as a junior -- Palatka

If you watch Miller's and Coburn's highlights without knowing who was who, you would say Miller's HUDL is better (and 4x as long). This kid is legit, has a scary fast first step for someone of his mass. And he has great field vision, always seeking the ball. Still lacks optimal strength, which Felder should fix. Not as flexible as Coburn, not sure that is fixable. But in a downhill scheme, he's the guy you want at nose. Will wreak havoc inside.

watched the film a few weeks ago and that first step just pops right out. this is going to be really interesting to watch develop. btw i do not see an offer from bama on his 247. not sure that is real.
