Clowney is a great player, but to the point now of being vastly over-hyped, over-exposed. Also not as down as some posters are on UNC. The long TD run in the 3rd quarter killed them just as they were getting back in the game. They'll improve and will be a handful when they come up on the schedule.

LOL @ college football fans running to the bank after 1 game.

Act like you've watched football before.

Rolled his ankle my a$$. He was out of shape. And he got taken to task by hurst. Clowney is great but when u talk as much **** as he has been talkin u better back it up.

This guy Fedora can coach an offense, the problem is he has spots to fill. He lost his BIG TIME playmaker (Gio). In the pass game, they lost WR Erik Highsmith. In addition, he lost 3 OL (Bond, Cooper and Williams) who were all drafted.

In 2012, UNC had 2326 Rushing Yards, 28 Rushing Touchdowns, 3501 Receiving Yards and 29 Receiving Touchdowns.

Highsmith 54 for 587 5 TDs
Bernard 47 for 490 5 TDs
Combined loss: 31% of Receiving Yards and 34% of Receiving TDs

Bernard 184 for 1228 12 TDs
Loss of 53% of Rushing Yards and 43% of Rushing TDs.

I expect Fedora getting this offense to perform to the best of their abilities (given his track record) at around mid-season.

They just flipped a local 5-star RB that was committed to ND. He should see a lot of action next year.

The funny thing is that in pre game Spurrier said that Clowney was in excellent shape.
I didn't think "excellent" had more than one meaning, but it's the south.
You never know.

He's in excellent shape all right. Buddy looks like he could start for any NFL team out there physique wise. Looks out of place on a college football field. Like Lavar Arrington back in 99' and Sean Taylor in 03'. Men-folk. But I think there trainer forgot to tell him to put the weights down and hit the treadmill! Lol.

If he truly had a stoumach virus, that would explain the windedness. He was punking Hurst in the first 20 minutes.

Would kill someone to have him lining up tonight for the good guys.

Yeah if he played like he did all game like that first couple snaps yeah but if he's gonna be hands on his hips heaving and half *** running the other 3 and a half quarters ill stick to what we have

Without the 60yard bomb and the 75 yard run the game was 13-10. What was impressive from either club?

ESPN said Clowney rolled his ankle early in the first quarter.
So without two touchdowns the game would have been closer? Ok.

'Chise you always a cool poster on the board.

That statement is just stating the obvious that USC isn't that good. It would be different if they drove up and down the field (see ALABAMA-NOTRE DAME or what the Patriots offense does week in and week out) that's what an *** kicking is.

The touchdown plays they got were luck and that isn't supposed to happen. But that's just because I'm a defensive minded guy. Just like when my Detroit Lions threw up that Hail Mary in triple overtime to beat the Titans in 2011. It was luck. Luck is those plays that don't happen 9/10 times, well USC got a few, and they won. Congrats to them. All that posts says is not to act like UNC was some ***** made team. The only *** kicking USC did was the first drive when their OL was blowing dudes off the ball.

UNC d-line is tiny and they are filling a lot of holes from last year, otherwise they might have been competitive, and I actually wasn't disappointed in their showing because I have never thought their offense is good and Renner deserves any hype. Too early to tell which blend of USCe being overrated and the Tarheels being ok was displaying itself.

Last year we had a bad game against a UNC team that is more talented than this year and then our quarterback went down. It happens (too often these days, but it happened to even our great teams). This year we will run all over them and Morris will pick apart their secondary, and if last year's d locked them down, no way they put up big points on us this year.

If I look at our losses last year, UNC and Virginia are the two we should have had. See above for UNC. For Virginia, half the players on our already terrible defense were suspended and we still should have won.

Am I saying we won't lose a game we shouldn't? No, but I don't see that game being UVA or UNC.

I'd be careful about the "should have won" games argument. By that logic, we could have just as easily lost other games. NC St. and Duke immediately come to mind. The bottom line is that we were a mediocre team last year, bc we had a very young defense with a woeful defensive line. W/ that defense, we could find a way to lose to anyone. hopefuly, we are much improved on defense, and it translates into many more wins.

UNC doesnt have a shot against Miami this year guys..... USCe wasnt even that impressive on offense or on defense they just beat UNC b/c of a couple of big plays and UNC lost b/c their QB is overrated.

I believed all the hype about Renner but after I saw him yesterday i was very disappointed... he isnt anything special in the pocket and is WOAT throwing on the run, outside the pocket.

Gio Bernard made their offense last year, and they dont have the RBs to replace his production and impact on that team.

Hitting deep passes and busting off long runs isn't luck, bro. If that's the case, then our boy Barry Sanders was all luck. No skill. USC wasn't tossing Hail Mary's last night.

My thoughts after watching about 3/4 of the game was this: USC is a good team, top 15 calibur, and UNC is a below average team. Nothing more, nothing less. I like to see the first 4 weeks of the season before making grand judgements on teams.

And on Clowney... I know if I am a GM, I dont want to see whatever that was last night ever again, otherwise I seriously start to consider other guys. He loafed around and dogged it out the majority of the game. He wanted the spotlight and that was borderline awkward. ESPN had to backtrack all that hype they had laid out for him.

I'm not really sure why people keep saying SC was not impressive last night. They were in control of the game from 2 min on.

IMO UNC schemed against the pass rush too much. They weren't going to let SC's D-line pin their ears so they rarely allowed Renner to drop back and pass. Against us UNC will not be as afraid of our pass rush and that will allow their offense to play more to the strengths of their QB.

Allowing two big play TD's is the "break but don't bend" defense. Not a proven winner.

I agree. I would think USC is fairly a top 10 team. UNC is and should be unranked at this point.

He looked like he was going to pass out 2 minutes into the 2nd quarter, and that's after alternating series in the 1st quarter.
Ramon Buchanon was great for us 2 plays a game, then became the invisible linebacker for the rest of his snaps.
No one doubts his talent level, but if you only bring it for a quarters worth of snaps and spend the rest of the game standing around just breathing, then I doubt coaches are salivating over your prospects.
