Williams is the safe pick in my opinion. I'd rather gamble on the riskier options for more success.
Well, we assume that the coaches chose to honor Stephen by keeping him in the games even while hurt last year. For all we know maybe Morris still outperformed Williams in practice every week. We haven't seen Williams with any real competition. The games he came in and did okay were games that even Morris performed well in while hurt. So when it comes to this year's competition, I want a new guy to step up. We all know that star rankings can be trash but when it comes to the unknown, I'd rather the 4-star Olsen or even Heaps who has been a bust after being a 5-star than the 2-star Williams. Williams has the experience and the basics but the ceiling should be higher for the other two.

So star ranking should merit a starter? Olsen is booty, and five star Jake has run from every pressure situation he's been in. Ryan took some lumps as a true freshman at Memphis, transferred back home and has been playing his part ever since. Don't care what his ranking was, he's ready to do what is necessary, something four and five star can't say right now.
LMAO at him playing in the NFL.
I feel like we've slightly overrated Williams over the past year. I'm not saying he's bad but where did such high expectations of him come from?
Williams arm has definitely gotten stronger. He has the tools to lead a talented team, which we have. Even though he isn't a running QB, leg strength is still very important so that's obviously a big concern. Really pulling for him though, he has waited his turn and to have it taken away like that must be rough. Plus, we friggin need him.I personally don't think he's a game changer, but he'll distribute as needed. That's what we missed last year at the qb position.
I thought he was a solid backup. And it's not that I even think he will be that good. I just think he will come in and get the job done. He has Duke and a great set of receivers, so we don't need him to be a superstar. Plus he is the leader of this team, and that is huge, These guys will follow RW into battle. Heaps is not the leader, and obviously neither is Olsen, because leaders don't get busted for drugs during bowl week, and not learn from his mistakes for the start of the next season. Just ask DP and Duke who they trust most at QB...I feel like we've slightly overrated Williams over the past year. I'm not saying he's bad but where did such high expectations of him come from?
It's funny that you ask this, because a year ago he was considered a bum. Wasn't until the "2nd greatest Miami QB in the past 20 years" completely turned all of his loyal poster against himself. That is when Williams started getting love and still most were trashing this dude late into the season. I still remember people saying " It was just Savannah St/USF people".
