Has Morris regressed under Coley?

It's a thought that has continued to cross my mind over the course of the season. I know he's got a bum ankle, but I think that at this point, you've got to call it as it appears. SM is nowhere near the efficient and productive QB he was last year under OC Fisch. Everybody and their dog knows Coley can recruit his *** off, but can he guide and develop this offense? Am I being too hard on JC since it's the first time he's actually called plays? Thoughts?

Just was never that good. He's still making freshman mistakes. He looked identical to Winston last night

No, Morris didn't "forget" what he learned, he just can't consistently apply it. Once it's learned you shouldn't have to keep learning it over and over, it should become second nature as you get better and better at it. Problem is he never learned it. The guy is average, nothing more nothing less. He's never changing at this point.

I think he isn't right for this system. If you look at what Coley is taking at QB's its not a guy that takes shots down field. Its a player who gets the ball into his playmakers hands 7-10 yards down field and lets them make the play. Yes they can throw it down the field when they have to but for the most part its dump and watch. I feel that's why our offense moves better with Ryan in.

I think we will find out at the end of the season that his foot is a bigger problem than the coaches have disclosed

Absolutely. Look at his numbers this year and last year and the evidence is clear. One could argue that he was the same player before and Fisch just minimized it but whatever. Whether it's Morris or Fisch it's something. Fisch improved Jacory's error prone ways so he has that track record. I'm not sure anyone could make Morris look really good against a solid d that can pass rush with 4, but it's the mediocre play against the middling teams that is more troubling.

He's had one good game against an opponent that wasnt a total cripple and even that one featured a couple picks.

You have to say yes. The last 4 to 5 games of last year Morris was playing awesome. Maybe that was just a flukey hot stretch for him but I just think Fisch system was a better fit for his skill set.

Yes certainly.

I think Fisch got more out of him.

I think we need a dedicated QB coach.

would not change a thing he is what he is, and check the numbers against bumb teams under jedd of course u look good. the ACC is better this year as a whole also but what did SM do against fsu last year? ill wait

He's always sucked *** against real teams....you all just had delusional orange and green glasses on the whole time.

Yes, he has. It's obvious when watching tape of Morris with Fisch and Morris with Coley that he's not the same QB....and that was even before the injury. It's not a good look. We have playmakers but can't get them the ball.

coley isn't even getting what fisch got out of morris against the bum. teams

We traded an offensive coordinator who had market value for a guy who had only one year's experience at play calling. Stephen Morris' decline is commensurate with the resume differential of our current and previous offensive coordinators.

As PennMed noted, look at the improvement in Jacory Harris during his one year under coach Fisch. We're now seeing that same type of movement to the downside going from Fisch to Coley.
