a bunch of you ******** are about to jump off of a bridge (and some of you actually should) because richt wasn't able to land some of our big needs and lost byrd in the process. i'm not happy about it either, but to put that **** in perspective, look at harbaugh's first recruiting class at michigan (our current class looks incredible by comparison). you can't expect to land a bunch of blue-chip players with under 2 months to work with. it's just not realistic unless your coach is nick saban or urban meyer.

we got some incredible players in this class and golden is gone. that's the best we could've realistically hoped for after canning the last staff.

Well Said Pipo!

people melting down, knee -jerking like women , when we have a bunch of ESPN 300 commits after a horrible season and a coach that had 3 WEEKS to salvage the class.

Yep. It's a **** miracle that basically all the top players stayed in the class.

I can understand the doom and gloom of losing Byrd but the staff is finishing with the recruits that most predicted. Give it time before criticizing.

im just going to keep reading this thread over and over because right now its the only thing giving me hope.

The results are not "the best we could have hoped for" by a reasonably wide margin. But today is not an indictment of the staff either. That would be WAY premature. But it's not a good day either. Four weeks ago the talk was about all the big time SEC recruits we were going to flip. Today the shoe is on the other GD foot. It's obvious Richt is going to have to win on the field and have a full year selling his vision to get a boatload of talent to sign with UM. Except for CB the roster is in good shape for him to do that.

Anybody who really expected much else this class is a fool. Held on to most of our top talent (losing Byrd sucks but whatever) and got a couple new guys in Finley and the linemen.

If Miami can get to 10 wins this season and Richt can show genuine progress, no reason we don't have a top-10 maybe top-5 class.

We hyped ourselves simply because these guys were visiting.

Thank you for putting apples to apples together for a bunch of depressed people here. CMR deserves credit for salvaging the class. They have done a fantastic job running around addressing DT & OT pocisions in the process. Byrd and Williams flipped? Whatever. Like somebody else here said. I rather see confident CMR than Folden's look like deer in feont of headlights

Michigan class rankings:

2015 : 40th

2016: 5th
this^ watch we'll have a top three class next year we already have 8 ESPN 300 guys and have a bunch of south floridians at positions of need

Seriously. I don't think anyone is happy about losing on Byrd and Williams to TN but people need to get a grip. This is still a pretty good class. Imagine this:

2017 CB's want to come to Miami because (arguably our biggest need next year)...
-Burns gets drafted in a decent round this year and performs well as a rookie.
-Elder puts together another good year and gains some buzz in the draft.
-Some young player is forced into the spotlight and hopefully performs admirably (Young, Redwine, etc).
-NO DEPTH. You'll have the greatest chance to play IMMEDIATELY behind a DL that (hopefully) causes havoc.
-Good season (hopefully) and a chance to compete for the ACC championship game and maybe even a playoff run.

2017 WR's want to come to Miami because (another huge need)....
-Brad F**kin Kaaya had a great first year under Richt and stays for his senior year with the hope of making a playoff run.
-Coley balls out and Bruce (hopefully Richards too) has a good Freshmen year. Word gets out, this offense is EXTREMELY WR friendly.
-NO DEPTH. Come here and get IMMEDIATE playing time.
-DONK.

The sky isn't falling. The end isn't near. We've endured a lot over the last decade. Richt didn't all of the sudden forget how to recruit. The man consistently had top 10 recruiting classes and we've seen his staff work tirelessly the last month. This will only motivate them for 2017.

I will just say this..I am not jumping off a bridge..and as much as I hated losing LW to UT I have to admit I didnt know who the ***** he was 3 weeks ago. And neither did many on this board. BUT losing Byrd ****ed me off. Maybe its just a competitive thing. Losing those two to UT just ****es me off. If Byrd had gone to ALA/LSU, so be it. I am not even that ****ed that Cook went to USC. Its where he really wanted to be. But UT? ****.

Oh well, another recruiting year come and gone..after midnight..we reset the clock and start looking into 2017 kids. And people will forget about half of the kids we lost this time next year.

All in all this is a very "top heavy" class. The core of this class will be very impressive in 3 years. The majoritiy of them will be legit 3 year starters at least.

At lastly, how many times over the past 10 years have we looked at our class at the end of NSD and said, "You know, these 3-4 guys really dont belong here. They were big time reaches."...VERY few reaches if any in this class. Thats the part I really love.
