Gus Bus really came into his own yesterday. He has finally learned how to get low and pick up the short yards. This kid has great balance and speed for his size. I am really excited to see him continue to develop, once he learns the protection package I fully expect to see him get more opportunities.

Pitt game stats: 11 caries, 64 yards, 5.8 average, 1 TD
Season stats: 54 caries, 300 yards, 5.6 average, 4 TD's

definitely a possibility, but someone running that hard will get his. Duke and Yearby don't get those kind of tough yards...

If Gus continues to develop, we will finally have proven depth at RB.

Spring RB's
  • Duke Johnson
  • Dallas Crawford
  • Gus Edwards
  • Joseph Yearby (He will EE)
  • Brandon Powell (He will EE)
  • Dalvin Cook (If he flips to Miami, he will EE)

That is championship caliber talent at RB. With that kind of talent we shouldn't see a drop off when injuries happen.

I want to pull my hair out when Gus subs in for a play, gets one carry, runs for like 7-12 yards, then proceeds to run to the sidelines because the coaches are subbing him out.

It is infuriating and has been the case all season. Gus would be SO much better and benefit SO much more from getting some consistent carries. He is the type of running back you can give the ball to five straight teams, he'll get you a few first downs, and soften up the defense for an electric Duke.

I think he will get lost on the depth chart to much talent coming to your backfield

I actually think the odd man out could be Crawford. It pains me to say it because the kid works so hard and it such a team player, but Yearby will be very hard for him to hold off. Gus should be safe simply because he will be the only true "big back" on this roster. Yearby is the same size as Crawford and is light years ahead of him in terms of natural talent. With Yearby being a EE I fully expect him to make his way into the rotation before the spring is over.

If Yearby and Powell stay and Cook flips, I wouldn't surprised if Crawford or Powell moved to defense.

I was going to say - isn't Crawford a better S than RB. i.e. he's just being a huge team player and playing RB for us because we have nobody back there.

With our S issues I'd like to move him back to S. He's a Junior next year, right? Couple of years to improve his draft stock.

Agree on all points.

Crawford has said that he prefers defense, but I don't think he will start at safety. He will make the two deep.

If we get Cook or if Gus keeps running like that..Powell isnt playing RB here. He will be moved to DB. And be a **** good one.

Powell's likely going to be moved to CB when he comes in. Dude is way too small to be a RB at the next level. But I agree, that's next level talent right there. Especially if Cook comes on over. Gus Edwards will be a good RB once he learns how to lower his pad level. That's the one thing that's severely lacking from his skills set. He's a frosh so I'm not going to bash him. Good freshman campaign to say the least.

Crawford's going to be a senior next year and is going to stay at RB.

Crawford is a redshirt SO now, he will be a redshirt JR next year.
