It all comes down to the ACT test in October. If he doing on line course for the ACT prep then that isn't a bad thing to focus 100% on that ACT.

That is all we can hope for, study and get into the program.

He doesn't get it done in a classroom with teachers...he's not gonna do it at home by himself

Oh, you would be wrong. Why do you think all the athletes are taking online classes?

I know two kids who took online courses this summer. One of them took a course in precalculus; the other took two courses, one in precalculus and one in physics. These were courses they had flunked when they took them in high school a few months prior. The online courses were easier because the kids could basically do a lot of cheating. One girl's precal course allowed all the homework and even the tests to be done online. Do you think she had help with all those things? The answer is yes. She took the final sitting in Starbucks with a tutor right next to her.

The other girl could submit all the assignments online, but had to take the tests under supervised conditions. Still, she got a lot of credit for acing out all the homework, with the help of a tutor. She still had to do OK on the supervised tests, but those tests were virtual duplicates of the online practice tests. When the time came for the precal final, our heroine was not ready yet, so her mother talked the lady who monitored the course into postponing her final for a week (for a additional fee of a mere couple of hundred dollars). I kid you not. So, yeah, the online courses were much easier to pass than the high school classroom courses, at least in those cases.
