Greg Rousseau - 4/80m second contract.

Interesting thread in retrospect.

Some of the criticisms of his pure 1-on-1 pass rushing were valid, but the scouts ignored the obvious- this was a young, athletic giant who played hard, worked hard, and produced. Don’t overthink it.

He made a play every time he was on the field whether he was at DE or DT even being young, raw, and undersized

Imagine the NFL just taking guys that make plays in college rather than the creepy *** way they measure everything and try and be the smartest people in the room

He didn't have a great pro day in terms of 40/3cone/Broad jump, which caused NFL GMs to overthink things and why he lasted until pick 30. Then you had a bunch of people on this board who were so butthurt that he sat out a year, they threw tantrums questioning GR's dedication, mental/emotional acuity and that no way he'd be drafted in the first round.

When you have a guy with that size, length and production (hits pause button so hard it goes through the remote) you take him. I'm happy for GR15, he's done nothing but bust his *** and produce in the league, and has earned that money.

This thread was my mea culpa.

Has any college time ever got less out of two star DEs than Canes did with GR15 and the UCLA transfer kid drafted by the fins?
Felt like it was one year and a half between them.

(Happy for their success in pro$ of course)

The hate and nitpicking on Roussseu by our own fanbase was embarrassing leading up to the draft. Glad he proved all of them wrong.

Grok says this:

Hey, the Bills' 4-year, $80M extension for Greg Rousseau with $54M guaranteed looks solid. Rousseau’s been a consistent edge rusher since 2021, and at 25, he’s in his prime. The guaranteed money aligns with top-tier DE contracts, but the AAV is mid-tier for the position—fair for his production, especially with the Bills’ cap situation. They’re betting on his upside, not overpaying for past stars like Miller. X posts show fans split, but the deal’s a smart move for Buffalo’s D-line.

Greg Rousseau’s 4-year extension with the Buffalo Bills through 2029 looks solid. He’s a 2021 first-round pick, 6'6", 266 lbs, with 8 sacks this season (tied-27th in the NFL) and 3 forced fumbles (tied-9th). Bills are locking in a young, impactful defensive end for the long haul. Good move for the team’s future.

This is a different/odd take, but my first thought after reading the title of the post was “wow, every bad guy in town now knows that GR hit the lottery.” I get it; it’s the world we live in. I’m also pretty private regarding my personal biz, so that factors into it. Considering the rise in athlete rip offs (ahem Carson Beck), I can’t be too far iff. Curious if anyone else thought this.

Also, in no way am I trying to dump on GR’s contract nor this thread. I couldn’t be happier for the guy. If you want to throw rocks at me, go for it, but please use smaller, lightweight rocks.
