Green

He plays on a motorized scooter and is tended to by his Haitian nurse on the sidelines in between possessions, yet he still gets after it.

Huge heart. I have crazy respect for this guy. ****ing hard-working grinder.

I never understood why people keep saying his knees are bad.

There is nothing wrong with his knees and he has not has an issue in over three years.

Who started that rumor about his knees

You realize that once you have knee surgery, they don't go back to normal, right?

Ah who am I kidding...of course you don't realize that.

Green’s empathy is palpable. The 6-3, 260-pound Miami defensive end tore the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee as a freshman during 2009 fall camp. He tore the same ACL again during spring practice of 2011.

You have to love his determination and desire, real cane--shame on those naysayers. He has become a player.

I'm really so proud of Shayon. I coached against him when he was in High School (Tift Co.). We were in the same region (1AAAAA). Kid has ALWAYS been one that had a burning desire to get to the football. Always went hard on the field. He was not a Big-time recruit, by any means, but I'm so glad we got him. This young man has character. I am so glad to see that he is working his way to get a shot at playing at the next level.

His development points in 1 direction........Al Golden!

There are many top athletes who tore knees and are 100%

Santana Moss
Frank Gore
Adrian Peterson

just to name a few.

AP is a freak of nature that people should not be compared to.

Frank Gore's knees work, they are not what they used to be. Do you understand the difference?

I'm assuming you never watched Frank Gore play in college before he ripped up his knee. ****, using Frank Gore as an example is like using Willis McGahee as an example. It's just stupid.

Now I'm going to repeat this again for you, so hopefully you'll get it. Just because you have come back from an injury and your knee is "repaired" does not mean that it can do the same things that it could do before you injured it. For some people, it can...for most people, it cannot.

I think by the time this season is over with, we ought to be speaking of Shayon Green just as highly as everyone speaks (now) of Mike James. Two guys who weren't super-highly recruited, maximized their skills through hard work, and overcame adversity to become key contributors on the field.

There are better/more talented DL on this team, but Green has become the best DL we've got at this point in time as far as overall productivity and steadiness.

Your right on Green McGriff found him in tifton GA a 2 star LB and told Shannon to offer him. He was a weightroom freak in HS. Mike James tho was a solid 4 star RB and was heavily recruited. He was less regarded to our fans because of 5 star Lamar Miller and 5 star Bryce Brown committed at the time..

Frank Gore is a Pro Bowler. There are many athletes who tore knees and are 100%

With advancements in technology knee injuries are not even considered as severe injuries

That right knee is held together by duct tape. He is a great leader on this team, glad to have him even if his skills don't match.

I sat behind his Dad at the game on Saturday and he looks like he could give us 50 snaps with ease.

I watched Green play when I lived in Moultrie ,Georgia. This young man had a motor,he kept coming all night. It's great to see him playing well! I wish everybody would have saw him before the knee injuries.

Here is Frank's track record:

2001: ACL tear in knee
2003: ACL tear in other knee
2005: Major surgery on both shoulders
2010: Hip Fracture (Season Ending, missed 5 games on pace for 1240 Rushing Yards and 5th Straight 1000 Yard Season)

Mike James was a 4 star recruit so I'm confused. And I said it earlier this off season that Green is a solid player and got a lashing from multiple people saying he is garbage. **** all of you!! Feels good to be right but not that great with a lot of this crowd. Not too hard to be right in a room full of idiots.

Calm down, folks.

I remember that James was a 4* recruit, but with the likes of Miller/Brown in said class (not to mention Trent Richardson, Eddie Lacy, Christine Michael, David Wilson, Jamaal Berry, etc), he was definitely overlooked--that RB class was packed with big name talent--some that panned out, some didn't. Also, there was a pretty large contingent of folks that thought James would never be a TB at Miami, but instead, be a blocking FB for Miller/Brown. Even when we had Miller/James, everyone wanted Brown, not just because he was the brass ring of RB's that year, but also because people doubted James' potential to be a RB at Miami.

Maybe "lightly recruited" was a worse choice of words than "overlooked" or "under-appreciated". But let's split hairs if you want to.
