Grayson Allen is a piece of trash

But you could watch Duke on the same stations?

Now you are just trying to be an *******. What part of I was staying in Raleigh at the time don't you understand. Duke and Miami was definitely not shown on the same stations. Every Duke game was on local tv. ****, local stations down here don't even show Miami games till this day...

And yes, most kids under the age 10 roots for what team is winning...

Why weren't you an NC State, since they're in Raleigh?
You do know Raleigh is part of what's called the Triangle. Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Durham. Raleigh is only 30 min from Durham

Yes, it's 30 minutes away. I went to b-ball camp at Duke as a kid. So why not root for the home team?
Cause the home team didn't have Jay Williams, Carlos Boozer, Elton Brand, and Shane Battier

Listen dork, it's not a huge deal that your root for Miami in football and Duke in basketball (though your reasoning lends credence to the idea that you're a frontrunner). It's the fact that, despite jocking the Canes on the football board, you pop off in this thread talking **** about the Miami basketball program. If Duke is your team fine, but it baffles me how someone can call themselves a fan of UM would then **** talk the bball program.

Blah blah blah. If I'm a frontrunner because I hopped onto a team as a kid then so be. Not my problem. You'll are the one crying about it. Did you go to UM? If not then you're a frontrunner too huh. I root for Miami in every sport. I just happen to like Duke too.

And lmao at all you females getting your panies in a wad over a harmless joke.

Lol Walmart boy. Good one. Please don't make jokes around a female. You will guarantee yourself a lonely night. But good for you. What about the other 99% of canes fans. You know the ones that became fans during the 80s and 90s. Are they frontrunners?

Still trying to figure out how a young child who watches an exciting team and becomes a fan can be considered a frontrunner.

I'm working on my second degree btw. It's going to kill you when you find out where I got my first one. Hint, the school that has beat us 7x in a row...

So you admit you chose Duke over hometown NC State because they were better....frontrunner. You said most kids under the age of 10 root for the team that's winning. You were 9. If you would have been 11, would you have been an NC State fan?

Lulz at the dek stackers that follow Duke basketball and Miami football. Pick a school, faqqits.

How can you like different schools in college sports. Its so weird.

It's been explained. Miami basketball didn't exist for almost two decades. Then for it's first decade back it wasn't relevant and was not at all covered by the media outside of Florida. UM being a national brand makes it a school very likely to have fans of other schools. Especially in basketball.

I understand what you're saying (1971-1984) but I don't buy it except for a small % of fans.

Let's assume you start being a "fan" of something at age 7, even then you really don't understand much. So if you were born between 1964 - 1977, maybe I could see it since the product didn't exist (more to come later).

Also, consider that 1980 was when we started having success with the football program. Even then, if you were born between 1973 - 1976, you hardly understood this early period in college football.

So if it was the football program that brought you here or began your affiliation, then those born between 1964 - 1972 began being fans when we didn't even have a basketball program. Keep in mind between 1968 - 1979, we hardly had any success in football. We were awful, we had 2 winning seasons (both 6-5). My guess is that unless you were raised on it or went here, then you likely didn't develop you're affiliation with Miami during this period. So basically those born between 1961-1972 weren't likely drawn here randomly during that time because we were awful.

So where does that leave us...

We sucked in football from 1968-1979.

We had no basketball program from 1971-1985.

That leaves (1980-1985) when there was success in football but no basketball program. So if you were born between 1972-1977 and began being a fan because of the football program, then at least you have the "excuse" that you can't support something that doesn't exist. With that said, it is clear these people only support a winning program.

Good post. And your right about the part in bold. Why was I a UM fan??? My family started driving down US-1 to UM football and baseball games in the 50's. It's fair to say it's in the blood. And that is true about a lot of people from South Florida. UM was the show before the Dolphins showed up. I'd have been a UM fan through the 80's and 90's win or lose. I honestly find it hard for anyone on here to lambast others as frontrunners. Most of the UM fanbase is made up of frontrunners. That said, I don't understand anyone liking UM football, and running their mouth about the basketball team. It makes no sense what so ever.

You'll are still mad cause I said Miami won't be able to stop Giles or Tatum. It's the truth. Izundu has no chance even against Jefferson. That's not talking ****. It's telling the truth...

I know that, but it's still hard to understand how people can't understand that it's an entire athletic department with multiple programs to support. You're not supposed to pick Miami football from column A and Kentucky basketball from column B and Texas baseball from column C, and then not even realize that, most importantly, it's a school, and not a professional franchise.

I always loved the Duke, Unc and Kentucky bball fans but Miami football fans. That originates from when we were good at football, so these fans had their cake and eat it too.

True definition of front runner.

It's quite hilarious.
