Grad Transfer LB Jack Gibbens

We have Miami type LBs on the roster but Baker would rather send McCloud out there to make mistakes instead of the young ones who can learn from them.

It's crazy to think the staff might not be willing to take risks to develop players after an abysmal season 1.

It's almost, almost like they're thinking this through and focusing on winning now.

Crazy.

if we do your standards are pretty low.....please tell us who these Miami type LBs are

For me a Miami LB can run, can hit, and plays with an edge.

Brooks (who’s playing with an injured foot, he’ll look different next year), Huff, and Cave fit the mold of modern day LBs who need the athleticism to do it all in terms of playing the run and pass.

I've seen Gibbens play twice in person actually. Definitely don't think he'd be worse than some of what we see out there right now for the Canes. Add to that, Gibbens will have never played behind a defensive line this talented in his career. I think he'd be good with a full offseason to acclimate, but I also think Miami has other more pressing needs on the grad transfer market.
Thoughtful response.

I think the Scheme doesn't do our LB's any favors.... It's just amazing that no matter who's out there it seems like they're always out of position..
Believe me I like the guys we have in Brooks, Flagg and such but something needs to be tweeked from a Coaching standpoint to utilize their talents better...

I agree the coaching at LB hasn't been what it should be. Even Shaq and Pinck were running around at times with no sense of purpose. Lance does a great job detailing run fits, or lack thereof in his reviews of the games which constantly shows LBs out of position or doing the wrong thing. McCloud has regressed under Baker and Jennings is a more of a 2-down thumper. We lack high end athleticism (and instincts from 53) when they are on the field together. I'm not surprised we did a better job of containing VT since 53 wasn't an option for Fuente to attack.

Idk if you’ve noticed but FBS and FCS are two different birds. Last two guys Miami took at the FCS were Tommy Kennedy and Dee Delaney. People on here were probably better o linemen than Kennedy and Delaney was overhyped.
But who recruited them that's the real question.. and we do have a defense I last recalled that defensive player will thrive in jmo.. but continue your gibberish 😅😅😅

Underrated post. Would be nice to get those young talented LBs better coaching as well.
It's only ok if you're also willing to take the losses that come with the young LBs being so out of position they give up a 60 yard play.

If we have to resort to grad transfer LB's from the FCS then im done with the defensive coaches. LB recruiting has been terrible

I didn’t criticize him but ok. The last two FCS guys didn’t pan out at their one year here so yea I’m a little weary going after another FCS guy.
That’s a Miami thing brother not a fcs thing. Plenty of talent down there. We just suck at evals for whatever reason
