Gotta pay Guidry

we were up at half against a heisman candidate at their place ... said heisman candidate was less than 50% and less than 100yds at half ... we had a good plan but our offense did us no favors

I agree but those two long TDs on 3rd and 15+ were inexcusable. I don't think UNC was on him though; this being Miami, we always lose to a team twice.

I would give him a pay increase now tbh.

What ever he got.. he’s already worth much more.

agreed 100%. the have a decent pass rush, but they cannot defend the rush. and the secondary is worse than St. Brendan High Schools' secondary
Their secondary has been cooked multiple times this year by below-average QBs. If our O plays like we did against Texas A&M (that A&M D is better than FSU's), we'll win that game in Doak.

They've also had an insane amount of luck. A healthy Riley Leonard beats them at home last week. What an insane level of luck to play 1) An injured QB and 2) a QB that reagravated his injury.

These discussions always get a little off the rails.

Pointing to the UNC score is disingenuous.

Saying it hinges on the FSU game is overly emotional and nonsense

The guy is a **** good coach. The complete 180 when it comes to tackling and playing with controlled aggression on D, the players that have drastically improved this year, the way he’s adjusted around injuries (all the way back to losing Mesidor and Deen at the beginning of A&M)

The dude is legit as **** and we gotta keep him

We gotta give him a big pay raise if that's what needs to be done. Our defense is night and day from last year. It's a good unit dealing with injuries, and it'll only get better with recruiting. You give him a reason to be here for a few years and see how good this unit becomes.

I think both coordinators this yeah are good not great, but have a lot of upside and will keep getting better as they go and that’s hopefully here.

You judge a coordinator by what he does with the players he has available. Anyone expecting Miami's defense to completely shut down top offenses is kind of retarded. Between half the defensive line being injured and a patchwork secondary, I'd have to say Lance Guidry has done as good of a job as anyone could have possibly done.

We are still stuck in trying to plug too many holes (pause) with the portal which has given inconsistent results. It’s tough to judge. Guidry himself basically said as the season was starting he was still trying to determine what our guys were best at doing.

So yeah I’ve been impressed with the way the defense has looked. Yeah sure sometimes the stats can skew things, we still have lots of talent issues facing certain teams, but overall you can tell the dude was hustling in the spring and summer, and when he pulls out something like he did against Clemson, that’s impressive to me

Pretty much.

Couch looks competent, Williams looks like an actual starter, LT just played his best game in a Miami uniform and Flagg made a play.

Dude is a miracle worker.

they should have lost to BC if not for a few stupid penalties by BC
they should have lost to Clemson but for a missed FG
they would have lost to Duke if Riley remains in the game

they remind me of the 2017 canes,

I don’t think he’ll leave so soon. He never had a P5 job because of his DUI/DWI history. I hope he isn’t the type that would burn the man who gave him his first legit shot at a big time program.
I hope he says a long time too and I love the hire, but he isn’t “burning” anyone if he accepts a job that he thinks is better for him. He’d be “burning” Mario if he was too old to give a sht like Steele or sucked a$$ like Gattis. Guidry has made our defense soo fun to watch. That’s exactly what you want from your defensive coordinator.

If he accepts a dream job at LSU it doesn’t make him a jerk and I appreciate what he’ll have done for Miami

To me, they are very very similar to the 2017 Canes, with a few key differences:
  1. Travis is miles better than Malik ever was.
  2. Norvell is a far better play-caller than Richt ever was.
  3. They've got better-skill players on offense, definitely at WR.
That 2017 team faltered due to injuries and stagnant playcalling. If Malik, Ahmon, and Herndon stayed healthy, I'm convinced we would've finished the year 11-0 and we would've been in the CFP (game against Clemson would've been closer and enough to get us into the CFP regardless).

This FSU team has had insane injury luck, and some very lucky circumstances go their way. Wouldn't be surprised if we went up there and put an A&M performance on them. Not to mention they don't view us as a threat. I don't know if I'm quoting him correctly, but @Cribby said in a thread a little while back that they think they're gonna blow us out. That arrogance will catch up to them.
