The good news: we can beat any team in the country
The bad news: any team can beat us(teams within reason..you know what im talking about)
The better news: no Texas and OSU is NOT head and shoulders above everyone else. Neither is any team in college football these days...not sure how much more evidence we need to see of this where people will actually start believing it. Every team is going to have close wins and close losses...many in which they should have won by more. After last night I have to believe there is something special about this team and until its proven otherwise then I have no reason to believe that we cant beat anyone in the country and the sky's the limit. Any detractors will be ignored at this point.

This is a good team if the 1st half defense figures it out

Statistically we were not bad on defense. They completed a low % of passes, we stopped the run, and got off the field on 3rd down.

The 2 busted plays for TDs and the inability to defend a screen to a RB ruined what could have been a good performance (Ott was even OOB on his TD closer to midfield).

That stat line is bizarre. Felt like Cal had 700 yards for some reason

With Guidry I would never claim the word “unprepared” but yeah going back to USF we haven’t been very good to start

We are more 2017 than 2001... a man wiser than I said...

Just win. Stop ******** ourselves. Need this bye week to heel up and lock it up, but not go clenched ****...
While I somewhat agree only because 2001 was the greatest team of all time, i think Miami is WAY better than the 2017 team. One reason why, Cam Ward...I think Rosier did a solid job for that most part but he isn't even in the same stratosphere as Ward...

It seems exclusive to screens and isolating anyone that lines up in nickel. And they all do it the same way.. screens and motion across the formation.

Would love to just put Porter back to the boundary and use the next 2 weeks to see if Ryan Mack, Day, Stafford, or anyone else can cover from the nickel position

12 First downs and 38 points do not align unless there are big plays and a freebee (Cam INT) or two.
I am pretty sure that was the third week in a row where we were beaten bad on a screen pass on 3rd and 15+.

230 of their 370 yards came in 4 plays

Blown coverage between Harris and Hill on the TE for a TD

Screen to Ott (stepped out of bounds before the 50). Defense sold out and had 4 guys in the back field

Bomb to WR lined up on Meesh 1v1 and cooked him

Screen to their other RB. Holding Kiko not called and Harris can’t tackle in space and it popped.

Aside from those 4 plays… defense was absolutely dominant. 3 of them can be fixed. You can’t fix Meesh getting cooked.

I know we've been bad off bye weeks for decades now, but in this case I think it comes at a good time. Plenty of time to review Louisville's torching of us last year and hopefully get our guys ready to deal with more of the same.

With one big difference/exception.

This team has a MUCH better QB than that 2017 team. So that alone, by definition, makes this a much better team.

But we are a flawed team. A wonderfully flawed team. Two things can be true at once.
