Good Bye - Who'se Gonna Transfer

Baseball team dont give scholie?

Baseball team needs all the help they can get in terms of scholarships. Baseball doesn't do full scholarships. I believe its 11.7 for the entire roster. Golden did Morris a favor by offering Thompson. Thompson probably goes pro if he didn't have a full ride through football.

Considering Westminster Christian's tuition rivals that of state universities, I don't think the Thompsons are hurting for money

True but give anyone the opportunity to make millions versus spending and I would think most would chose the millions. Just look at Larkin. He doesn't need NBA money but still may go pro.

If you are a senior...you don't transfer unless you feel you want to get more playing time and to do so, you need to get elsewhere. If that is the case...I say, go ahead, young man. You only got one shot at a senior year and if you feel like you won't play...by all means, I understand.

I would like to see how Golden does with developing players in years 4 and 5.

Under Randy, those guys that didn't develop fast, rarely, if ever, got better. I think the lone example was Tervaris Johnson.

Last year, Golden got a lot out of some guys asked to transfer at this time last year like Davon Johnson.

I want to see how guys like Briscoe and Armbrister turn out here.

There are guys that I don't think can play (like Perry, for example)...but if they think their best place is here, I won't ask them to leave.

Some athletes may be on a full ride and some on nothing. I know this applies in other sports that are less of a money maker than baseball. Also a lot of these kids also get academic scollies and based off of Thompson's grades in high school I would bet he is on a full ride when you put the two together. A friend of mine was offered a full ride to UM by combining athletics and academics.

Please re-read my origonal post. I DID NOT suggest anyone would be FORCED off. We don't need the room under the 85 limit ceiling, as we are only at 84, if I am correct. We'll use one for the Cincy Punter who is transfering.
We may have a shot at a late signee, or two, but should have room with the usual VOLUNTARY transfers. That is who I was referring to --- the guys who want to plat somewhere --- anywhere, as long as they get to play --- and won't see much pt here.
My origional post was directed toward those players who should be thinking of leaving NEXT YEAR. I agree w/ posts #4; #12 and #13.

Good effort with the OP to get a discussion going, although the content was way off....

Only players I could see going anywhere are Crow or Dewey.

Goldens has weeded out the bad apples. Any upperclassman who is on this rooster is here because Goldens wants them here.

Why would the seniors on that list transfer? Every one of them you listed will see pt.

Okay, Spring practice & game are over. Now Al is gonna have a 'Heart-To-Heart' with every player and 'evaluate' their progress (and future.) Obviously, some guys who want to play college football, but will not sniff the field at Sun Life, will be suggested to transfer.
Who are the major candidates?

Brisco - Gotta be numero uno! Hasn't shown anything I'm aware of.
31 Cornelius (Sr) - Already has degree & buried on depth chart with Armbruster. Might be told his 'ship is not being renewed.
34 Armbruster (Jr) - Buried on depth chart. Wanna play? FAMU?
30 Highsmith (Sr) - Even though he has his degree, need senior leadership in the locker room, as well as on field. I think he stays.
94 Cain (Sr) - The only thing he has brought to Coral Gables is a great name! We may need your ship for a late signee.
Cleveland (Sr) - Even though he has his degree, need senior leadership in the locker room, as well as on field.
I think he can still contribute based upon some reports.
Perry (Jr) - I haven't heard anything about his performance this spring. Not sure that's good, or bad.
Thompson - I think we'll still keep him on scholie, at least for another year because we don't yet need the room
(Operative word here is "Yet.")

E. Johnson (So) ? ---- Who knows? Your guess is as good as mine!

So i guess you didnt get the memo when Al Golden said he doesnt push players out??? besides i find it funny that you actually think that Miami has the depth on defense to cut anyone at this point in the process.

Awful post

A lot of those guys are going to get time and one of them is our best player in his best sport

LMFAO

The Seniors will just graduate after the season, there is no need to even think about pushing them out. It makes us look bad and doesn't help us. The others may get told they are on the back of the depth chart and choose to leave, but that is their option. Eddie Johnson could get asked not to come back but I think he will be given one more shot.
