Honestly I don't think people care what we run. They just want a more aggressive, attacking style. Waiting for the other team to make a mistake is no way to have a successful offense

Some people feel our our personnel fits a 4-3 better right now. A DCs job is to get the best out of the talent. Obviously that isn't happening right now and hasn't in the last 3 years. FWIW, we were a base 4-3 team the last 2 years.

I don't remember anybody wanting to go to a 3-4.

It just seemed like everybody wanted clarity on what defensive system we'd be running under Goddens and Doritos.

I too remember a lot of people wanting a 3-4 and claiming 4-3 was behind the times.
Doesn't seem to make a difference in our play so 'carry on'.

IIRC, there was a large discussion over which defense is best suited against spread teams. Lots of pro-34 defenses for defending the spread and maybe that's where the support came from. I think all of us were envisioning a defense that - as a poster earlier said - would show multiple fronts, exotic blitzes, big athletic LBs, etc. Instead, we've been given an Olivadotti-esque antiquated read and react defense that has ineffective DL "rushing" the passer ala Klingbeil, , et al

golden is a 3-4 guy regardless what he "says"...and the reason they trot out that multiple bs...is because he knows um is a predominantly been a 4-3 aggressive scheme and he's a smart guy that doesnt want the backlash......well he got it regardless as his buddy has stunk something bad and he is still getting the backlash..so he trotted out the" we had more lbs" line.

dude ran the 3-4 at UVA with Ahmad Brooks and company...at Temple...at Penn State....its what hes known his whole career....we are "multiple" but their make up is 3-4 base u guys cant tell from how we recruit....thats the give away right there....

Our 3 down linemen sets is just the 4-3 depth chart with Green standing up instead of his hand being on the ground.

yep, although Green is asked to drop into coverage about half the time, it seems. I love the guy but that is painful to watch.

right, I don't know if anyone remembers the raising canes episode with Shayon, but it's a miracle that he can even run on those shoddy knees, yet good ole NO'D wants him running in space and covering TE'S.

To say our DL's can't do anything is to ignore the fact that at the snap, we don't charge the gaps.

I think you'd see a completely different game.
