Golden v Saban

I think any comparisons right now are premature and unfair, folks seem to forget during his first run as a head coach at Mich St. he took his lumps too. ( And then eventually became an all-timer, but my point is, he wasn't suddenly the Nick Saban we all know and respect, now)

Saban may be an a$$ and all but the following is from a bit off a bama website - i forget which one since i emailed to someone and just grabbed this part to make a point - it is in the eye of the beholder.

A number of Saban assistants spoke of the coach's loyalty to those he has worked with in the past, though none illustrated the point quite as well as retired defensive line coach Pete Jenkins. According to Jenkins, a defensive line coach under Saban at LSU, the percentage bonus Saban told his first LSU staff it would get for a bowl trip was somewhat higher than what the school eventually paid. When the 2000 LSU team took a bid to the Peach Bowl against Georgia Tech, Jenkins learned all he needed to know about the man he'd chosen to work for.

"Coach Saban took it out of his bonus and made up the difference between what the school had planned and what he told us when we came on board," Jenkins said. "My appreciation for that was even greater than the excitement over additional money. It's been my experience, unfortunately, some I've worked for have not been as true to their word as coach Saban is."

I actually heard from a former Temple player( who loved him) that Golden can be an *******. That's he a grinder & it's his way or out the door. Parcells was the same way. From the outside looking in ppl may be turned off by that but those coaches seem to have a strong bond & loyalty from former players. If u remember Jimmy could be a real **** too.

Anyone can be considered an ******* at a given time. And I like it that anyone who doesn't want to do it Golden's way is out the door.

What was conveyed to me was that Saban was an arrogant ******* upon wakening, at lunch, dealing with non-players/parents, and overall made a profession of it. Being a full-time ******* is not a virtue, but he seemed to think Saban was working on perfecting a perpetual state of assholishness full time.

When you have a program as ****ed up as ours was, you need someone to come in and give everyone a kick in the ***.

You need that *******.
