Golden is such a well prepared public speaker. He sounds presidential. If we win next week, I still think we self-impose a ban. This team is set up to make multiple ACCCG appearances. No need to sell our future for a ACCCG appearance and pre-NYE bowl game.
I disagree, there's nothing to show that another self ban will do any good, IMO you don't dangle the carrot in front of the team and then snatch it away once you get where you wanted them to go.
I was really impressed with Golden's post game radio bit, he came of as a man with steely determination and gave a little bit of "settle the F down and be patient".
UM isn't going to make the decision to forego a bowl unless there is an indication that it will do some good in terms of NCAA punishment. They are in constant contact with the ACC and with the NCAA. And while the NCAA isn't going to come out and say "ok, if you drop a bowl game this year, we'll lighten your punishment," they can certainly make it known whether it would help out cause.
And the players have known since last year that this was a possibility. We're not "dangling a carrot" in front of them. They're adults...they chosed to come here and play in spite of the uncertainty of this whole NCAA thing. They know that there's a possibility that if we take a bowl ban now, it'll free us up for the rest of their careers at UM.
