Al Golden quote on state of the Hurricanes right now: "I always confront the reality. I don't live in the past. I'm here and I want to be here because of the tradition. But at the same time, I look at the facts and the facts are that we haven't won the Coastal and the facts are, I believe, that Virginia has beat us the last two years. If that's not enough to open our eyes as a team, as an organization and get us focused in on what we need to do in Charlottesville, then I don't know what is."

And

Al Golden said he took little time this wk to look at Virginia. "If we don't play our best game next Saturday, we'll lose. Simple as that."

Yes, it's coming off a win. But Al Golden seems as upbeat today about the state of Miami football as he has since day he got hired.

He just gets it indeed.

Golden is such a well prepared public speaker. He sounds presidential. If we win next week, I still think we self-impose a ban. This team is set up to make multiple ACCCG appearances. No need to sell our future for a ACCCG appearance and pre-NYE bowl game.

If I may borrow from the scripture of the wise prophet 5Ringz, ahem:

Al Golden doesnt get it. He IS it.

Need Jeopardy Gif for Coach Golden

I'll take "Things AL Golden Gets" for $1,000, Alex

I disagree, there's nothing to show that another self ban will do any good, IMO you don't dangle the carrot in front of the team and then snatch it away once you get where you wanted them to go.

I was really impressed with Golden's post game radio bit, he came of as a man with steely determination and gave a little bit of "settle the F down and be patient".

**** a post season ban. These guys been through a lot this season to have the opportunity for a post season to be taken from them for the sake of something that no one on this team had anything to do with. All players involved have since left the program and the only coach left is Barrow but his involvement was little too none.

Agreed. Of course it would lessen the severity of any sanctions, but, COT****!!!! These boys have fought hard to just have it snatched away.

I think Dyron Dye is the only one left on the team who had any connection to Shapiro.

PLay the ACCCG... sit out the **** ****y bowl game....

I may be wrong but I don't think it works that way. Think the ACC won't allow us to play in it if we take the ban.

Then do not announce until after. Bowl invites do not go out until after the fact. I say if we beat FSU we should say ***** it and go to the Orange anyway.

I swear there's more to it than that but to be honest I haven't been reading too much about the bowl ban part. I'm not there yet.
