Golden on returns

I prefer to see someone with good hands on punts, I think Coley is still a little gun shy and prone to bobble. You give away the ball on a kickoff and you are gifting the opponent great field position. If we are substantially ahead OK, but not otherwise. Don't get me wrong, I think Coley is a star in the making - just would rather he not kill his confidence by losing a K/O.

I want someone who can make a play out there, and you live with the risk involved. If all we wanted was someone to field the ball and nothing else, Allen Hurns would be great for this role and we never would have heard of Devin Hester or Kevin Williams.

This is beautiful.. Nailed it bra.

Kevin Williams was not returning punts as an 18 year true freshmen. Especially in those days.

Devin was a diff animal. His legend had grown so much by then it was almost like Coker had no choice. He was larger then life.

Hey, six in one hand, half dozen in the other. Buddy could return a punt for a TD and I will eat my words. Just makes me a little nervous thats all.

IRRC, correctly, Williams was a redshirt sophmore in 91 when he took over the kick returning roles( and now that I think about it, he was out there in 90 as a redshirt freshman, too)

Hester, actually had to sit out a year in 2002, so he wasn't a true frosh either

That being said, Coley, is a special talent, he pans out, he's not staying for four years. Get him out there as soon as possible( if he's ready to be that guy)

If Coley drops a punt, Dorsett will be back in for the next one. MUST catch the punt. Hester might end up boing the only NFL HOF for returns, so may any of these guys be half what Hester was with that. But Coley will be better WR, thank God. KOs are a pleasure to think about, but with our new defense may there be few. Duke, Coley and Burns are about as good a combo I have ever seen.

I totally support Coley getting his chance even if he makes a few mistakes. You forget that Hester had plenty of issues fielding punts his last year and may have cost us the FSU game in 2005.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- After observing Devin Hester's dismal performance Monday night against Florida State, we have to ask, was Deion Sanders mentoring the guy or practicing some form of mind control over him?

The Miami speedster, hailed in the offseason as the most explosive player in college football, completely fizzled in the prime-time spotlight as No. 14 FSU upset No. 9 Miami 10-7. Hester muffed a couple returns and failed to field a few more punts, allowing the 'Canes to lose in excess of 30 yards in a field-position battle. He also brought out another kickoff back from six yards deep in the end zone and was flagged for running into an FSU punt returner, yielding the 'Noles another 15 yards.

Midway through the game, Miami coaches pulled Hester on punt returns, sending Ryan Moore out in his place.

I'm excited to see what Coley can do.

Dorsett protects the football, but he doesn't make any plays. Only big return from him that I can remember was against NC State, and it was called back.
