The guy has stood by this senior class in spite of the obvious talent deficiencies. I will be curious to discover if this is a special case because of the clusterfark they endured (loyalty to this particular senior class) or if its his MO with all the seniors in the future.

Some curious answers to direct questions about the defensive problems, again, not wanting to be critical of or diminish the senior class that stayed the course.

I kind of agree. Most of these kids had nothing to do with the mess that cost them 2 bowl games. Think he wanted to send em out on top. I'm sure the trolls will roll through at any moment and try and tear any argument apart with their troll logic.

"We're still building. We're still trying to improve. We're not a finished product by any stretch of the imagination. But I hate to talk about things we have to fix. And by doing that I'm diminishing the efforts of the guys that are here. . . "

Am sorry I don't want to hesr that crap about the SRs etc. They are not the only ones on the team and the season is over. This is not about the SRs, their story has been told bar one game. Golden is more concerned about keeping his buddy happy. It would better if he doesn't answer. The offseason is when u freaking think and talk critically about whats went wrong. And the D has been wrong since he showed up. He knows the D is not getting better. Last year he told us it was youth and we bought it....this year they keep moving the goal post. Fire your buddy now and hold everyone accountable. Simple

Kelvin Cain said hello, he only wish the coach would have played him more instead of AQM and mccord. Also, Artie Burns and Corn Elder sending a s/o to coach for playing the best players, instead of the experience players like larry Hope and Nate Dorsch (sp?). We should all sit back and let this thing play out. We played with like 72 players. We could not recruit like the other teams the past two years. First year, he had no time to recruit. Let's see how we do with this class.

don't get me wrong, I'm confused with some of the approaches this staff has taken in games, on both offense and especially defense. However, I want to see how this staff can do this year with no NCAA cloud. I wanted at worst 11-1.

People can say whatever they want about Coach Golden, but there's no denying that he is an excellent ambassador for the program and that his energy and positive attitude throughout the NCAA ordeal probably was front-and-center in helping the program get through that difficult time with just about the least amount of negative impact that could be expected along the way.

I'm not suggesting that had anything to do with the ultimate sanctions imposed--just with getting the program through it all and on the way to the other side.

Yeah, I'm sure Al is more concerned with keeping Coach D happy than winning ball games and holding on to his job. Makes sense.

That's strange, I thought we had a bowl game to play and a 10 win season on the line...

If he's playing crippled seniors just because he wants to be nice to them but actually thinks the players behind them are better, then he's the biggest moron in the history of corching. That's PeeWee football/soccer mom bullshyt. There's no place for that kind of kuntery in major FBS football. I can't believe he'd ever even consider such a disreputable move.

I didn't hear him say that the players behind the starters were a better option at this point. He knows there are defensive problems and chose not to trash the players. What do you want him to say? He's not going to publicly trash the players or his assistants.

He will have to get it fixed or he will be gone in two more years. But, he's not going to sabotage his own efforts just to say what some people want him to say.

People will hear what they want to hear in these interviews. Regardless of what any individual wants to hear, AG definitely knows how to deal with the media and is a tremendous 'face of the program'. We'll find out if he's a tremendous coach or not, but he certainly represents the U about as well as anyone could ask for.

This whole thing about favoritism for the seniors is overblown. Were the options behind most of these seniors really going to yield better results this season?

Morris - Williams

Clements - Gus

Hagens - Tucker

Hurns - Scott

Cleveland - Sandland

Linder - Gall

Seantrel - Gadbois

Wheeler - Wells

Green - AQM

Robinson - Hamilton

Porter - Moore

Renfrow - King

Gilbert - Hoilett

Cornelius - McCord

Gaines - Kirby

Cain - Blue

Highsmith - Carter

Rodgers - Bush

O'Donnell - Barnard

I stated this was my opinion on the matter a few weeks back. There would be repercussions for most coaches in their 3rd year if they pulled this, but the way the people at the top handled this situation when he came on board. Big Al can play by his own rules for a moment, and imo, he did. It backfired on him with the fans, but he prob earned respect with his players.

Now i think we can all agree that the amount of jags that will play next season will be limited. **** all the guys that will be playing next season. Will be the players that we all expected, or wanted to play. With the loss of Porter, and Green. I think we will see more Chick in the middle, and more of McCord, and AQM combo. Which will result in it self a better defense. WTH posted a video the other day of the GT game. Which showed two plays back to back with those two supplying massive pressure. Just adding those 2 guys in more plays next year. Will limit on many plays how long our LB, and DB have to sit in coverage.

I know everyone is hoping that Ono will be gone, and i agree. I just don't see it happening. All we can do is wait till next season, and see what happens. If Ono ***** the bed next year with all his talent. No way can i see Al fighting off the pressure that will come for his head. I know it sucks, and people may say that i am settle ling. Yet that is far from the truth. I just believe he will be back. As i said. I don't see him making it past next season with another year like this.

Under the circumstances, Al was given more wiggle room than most coaches would have. Next year that will run out. Sadly we fans have to deal with it.

He is a loyal coach. As shown in his willingness to deflect apparent issues on defense from donofrio and constantly makes excuses for him. He is loyal to some of the talent deficient seniors because of how much they have been through. The situation with the seniors is understandable but to a certain extent. In some cases there are clearly better players behind them but he doesn't want to disrepect them. The liable 6 as I call them( cornelious, highsmith,Rodgers,Gaines, green/armbrister)
