The access to the team and the behind the scenes action has been one of the real bright spots of his tenure so far.

This. I gave Golden and the UM Athletic Department a lot of credit with being very proactive in getting the team new coverage, Raising Canes etc.

It was a no brainer to play chick his first year. He even led the the team in sacks for Golden not Randy

nope top 50 kids like him don't redshirt anymore unless they're QB or OL..

This. Yes red shirting and building depth is always great but some players don't want to be red shirted and thus signing them requires a promise that they will see the field early(even bama and sec teams do this). I would much rather play a kid early than not get the kid at all.

I definitely agree most should red shirt, but top 50 players sometimes should see the field, it's good for recruiting

I'd say they need to do some work on play calling as well.

You eliminate half the field from your play calling, you just eliminated your opportunities by half.
