Golden loves him some Raphael Kirby

I think we'll see a lot of linebacking by committee next fall. I think we'll see Jawand Blue & Josh Witt either redshirt or be exclusively on special teams and everyone else rotating in. We're amazingly young at linebacker. Splitting reps is a good way to keep these kids healthy. I'd look for Gabriel Terry to have some situational reps as a blitzing outside linebacker in a 3-4 set).

With the dearth of talent we have at S, I would almost give Witt a chance there, but again it would be playing a kid out of position for depth which I'm not a huge fan of doing.

Great point about the success the freshmen are having. Al and coaches know talent and i can't wait to get the other freshmen on campus. Al really likes high football IQ in his players and were seeing how much faster the freshmen are catching on.

I can't remember one significant play that Buchanan has made in his time here, not even a big hit or anything. I had high hopes for this kid when he came in, he has been a huge disappointment

Gentlemen, does it seem we have a disproportionate percentage of Freshmen doing very, very well?

And is it not true that we have an entire buttload of incoming freshmen coming this summer?

Don't know about anyone else, but sure makes my willie tingle, when your freshmen are leading your pack. It speaks very, very well for the future of Hurricane football.

Actually, we just have a disproportionate lack of solid uppeclassmen. It may indeed speak well for the future, but it speaks much worse for the present.

Perryman, Kirby, Johnson, Paul... those are some quick, hard hitting LBs.

I personally hope Gaines doesn't start, kid made zero plays last year.

I think something like 55 out of 80 will be 1st or 2nd year players come fall

Sounds like Witt doesn't have the hips or lateral quickness to play s.

I know very little about those intangibles and you are probably right. It's more just hoping a kid can surprise the coaches with more athleticism than they expected.

That's freakn crazy. And a lot of those 55 will be counted on to make an instant impact because the Jr's and Sr's just aren't very good.

And Witt is just as fast if not faster than the rest. Hits hard too.

Early returns on our big group of EE's sound promising but we have all heard this stuff many times in the past.

I guess the big hope is that Golden can develop talent like the 2 corches before him couldn't.

I suspect that Josh Witt will be a starting linebacker for at least two years here. The only thing he's lacking is 15 pounds of bulk.
