Al Golden on frosh LB Raphael Kirby: "He is tough. He is relentless & he’s smart. He plays coiled & combustible.. He reads his key & goes."
2:45pm - 29 Mar 12

Can he have a bigger impact then Perryman did?

1 - not surprised, kid had aces highlights and came in here to play NOW. Couple that with how underwhelming the LB play has been, he's going to stick out.

2 - If the concept of playing the best 5 goes for the O-line, it should for the LBs too...so both kirby and DP should be on the field at the same time.

3 - I see positives down the road in that if a true freshman comes in and starts, any recruit out there will be able to see that we have openings for immediate playing time, and if you're better than the guy here, you play.

I sure hope he plays day 1. that will mean that he is better than someone who started last year, which means we are going in the right direction quickly

Redshirt my ***. We have some real strange people addicted to posting on Miami football forums. Raphael is probably one of the most "high motor" players on our team and he is 3 months out of high school. Big future for him.

a Lb core of Perryman, Kirby and Buchanon? BOW BOW!!

Perryman has outplayed Buchanon so far in their careers unfortunately.

I actually like the thought of Gaines on the outside though, but I just hope it finally all clicks for RB this year.

Gentlemen, does it seem we have a disproportionate percentage of Freshmen doing very, very well?

And is it not true that we have an entire buttload of incoming freshmen coming this summer?

Don't know about anyone else, but sure makes my willie tingle, when your freshmen are leading your pack. It speaks very, very well for the future of Hurricane football.

Can't wait til this team is full of Golden recruits. Looking at the depth chart, this team is paper thin.

If Buchanon starts I'm hoping its cause he's better - not cause he's more experienced. He's never really had good instincts for the position and never played physical at it either. If one of the younger guys can be more instinctive and physical I don't want that lack of experience being the reason he doesn't start.

and Kirby's gonna be a good one. Excited to see how he does. I do think some of the new guys get talked up a little more to help build their confidence, though. But from all indications Kirby's deserving just like Chick and Perryman were last year.

Totally agree. Look at what golden has to say about hope, kirby, gunter I know he isnt a freshman but a new recuit. I think the future looks bright. I wont be suprised once howard and co. get here if more freshman arent up at the top of the depth chart. Next year might still be down but golden is building a monster. Once we get the ncaa to anounce I think you will see even more big time guys coming to miami. Golden is a boss
