Golden interview on canes all access today

In this day and age of Gators being arrested, Noles being accused of rape and coaches like Meyer lying to their team to go to another, the Hurricanes have one of the few coaches I would feel comfortable sending my son to play football for. Golden still has a lot to prove on the field, but there is no doubt that he cares about his players and helping them mature into men. Now he just needs to make the hard decisions and put a staff together that can coach this team into a national winner. I wouldn't be behind Golden if I didn't think he could do it.

a good CEO will not fire someone for doing exactly what they are asking of them...

So is it time to expect some results on the field or do we have to wait 3 more years? I mean he sound optimistic but i heard it all last preseason. Im guessing not with No D hanging around. One thing, we have alot of experience players, and Randy players are all but gone.

So you agree the defense sucking is 100% on Golden?

It's hard not to like the guy after listening to him talk. He is truly a CEO. Gotta see legit on field results in 2014.

Credit to Don Bailey for asking the hard hitting questions that fans want the answers to.

Starting to really get tired of Golden's bullsh!t. That **** may fly at Temple where no one listens... but not on a fan base that's seen 5 NCs.

This is the way I felt for a long time. However, if he truly is the CEO we thought we had Dorito would have been out the door 15 minutes after the ending of the Louisville game. CEO's see weaknesses or flaws and attack them aggressively, they don't make excuses for them, they find someone that will get them the results they need to keep their job.

Less talking. More championships.

What's the point of saying this? Obviously it can't be done right now, so why even say it. Of course we want championships and I'm sure the team does too. He's finally out talking and it's still a problem.

Everyone on this board know bull**** when they see it. Nothing this dudes say is worthy of my time after the debacle this past year. He owes it to the university, fans and most of all the players to place a great product on the field. He hasn't done that yet. We do know what a quality football team looks like on the field, we are UM fans. The defense has been getting killed since he arrive and not getting better. Offense regress this year as well but there was a new OC. I was hoping that he would be hired away since he doesn't have the leadership quality to make the necessary changes instead using a stupid word like 'continuity' instead of shaking things up and mention 'changes' n staff. Tougher schedule next year, same defense will equal same results.

Dude has a silver tounge. There is no doubt that the product on the field improved over last year. The defense was marginally better for a time. The whole team struggled after duke got hurt. We get ten if duke doesn't go down. Truth is, stemo was not good enough and that really hurt the team.

The defense sucked too, and has sucked just about every year coach no d has been here

I think we should consider how the NFL draft plays out to get the complete picture of the coaching staff's competence. If you don't have the horses it is hard to pull the sled. I am in favor of Al staying and getting more time to right the ship and believe that the 2014 recruiting class is key. Based on analysis provided in other threads, recruiting stars do matter and frankly believe we have been undermanned. Our best players are the younger ones, I still remember the FSU game where the DL ran a stunt and AQM came totally free to sack Winston on a critical 3rd down play. So what happened? AQM broke down, Winston side stepped him, and FSU picked up the third down. That was not scheme, that was a true freshman not being able to make a play.

I was very disappointed in how the defense played in our losses and expected them to play better but we need better/more mature players as well.

I saw an initial NFL draft forecast, very preliminary, but it shows that there is not much respect for the draft eligible players we have. It had Seantrel as the first one drafted in round 5! Does anyone believe we are going to win championships with that kind of talent? Really? The key is for Al and team to get better players and once he has them then I think we have a better idea of how effective his coaching, and his coaches, are.

I personally have felt that U Tough has been a success, our team seemed to be in better condition than in years past and I like Al's organizational skills. I do believe a good foundation is being laid but he has to bring the horses in to finish the job.

I also don't get all the negativism around the Penn St excursion, was anybody really surprised that he might be interested in his alma mater??? I would be upset if he was off interviewing for another job where he did not have personal ties.

I don't post very often but have been disappointed with the over the top negativism on this board lately and really hope it does not impact our recruiting. Getting better players needs to be the primary focus, without them I don't care if you are Vince Lombardi you are not going to win championships.

Count me in the group that is tired of the talk. I need to start seeing some legit results on the field before I am back on his bandwagon. We have a pretty tough schedule next year and if we dont make improvements we could easily be 8-5 next year. (@Nebraska, Cincinatti, @Vtech, FSU, UNC, and Louisville will all be very tough games for us.) He really needs alot of his Juniors and Seniors to bail him out of this mess.

Its like when Jimmy was coaching the Cowboys and spouted his mouth off about beating the 49ers in the NFC Championship game one year. He came to his players, hat in hand, in the locker room and told them he phucked up and needed them to bail him out of this one. (im paraphrasing). Al might need to have a similiar talk to our players because if we take a step back next year...Lawd help him.
