So generally coaches can be judged in their 3 year. So when you go back to the 2011 recruiting class what do you see? The #36 team ranking, and ONLY 2, yes 2 four stars. Compare this to BAMA and FSU. They finished 1-2 that year in recruiting. LSU #6, Auburn #7 Clemson #8 Ohio State #11. Hmmmm.

Now I think it is fair to say that his team lacks top end talent from high school and we are playing pretty much in line to above average from that class. Perryman, Dorsett, Crawford, Pierre, all 3 stars. Armbrister, King, Darrius Smith not ranked or 2 star. With all this, all I am saying is, I think this team has been coached up pretty well, and top end talent is important, next year will be coaches true 3rd year with top 9 class as juniors and guess what...our two best players from that class were 5 stars, duke and Tracy. Generally speaking, you need talent to be a talented team. In some cases you find Cinderella type teams, however do they win national championship, do they win year in and year out, no talent does though.

Go watch Al's postgame speech after we got killed by Duke thanking the players for their effort. If you still have hope after listening to that then god bless you

He is big in psychology. You're crazy if you don't think he knows this team doesn't have it, he just needs the younger guys to stay on track. Therefore he never throws his team under the bus. You don't get it.

Theres not a lack of effort whatsoever coming from this team, the defense avaerages 85 plays a game on the field through both their and the offenses inability to execute on 3rd down.. this kids are not mailing it in, the culture here is different now, our roster isnt a bunch of underachieving northwestern and booker t kids giving up

OP...do this much?

without any of the mentioned young talent from last year and this year..we are 4-7 right now....the senior and juniors god bless them, they were asked to do to much too many weak spots....some were coached up some just failed..

Look at Dallas ...he was a 4 star guy at Safety...we HAD to make him a RB he would have probably been a 2 star RB prospect..he is our starting RB.....Morris was asked to lead a team with skills that were not there never were...not his fault and cant handle pressure or read defenses I am pretty sure 95% of the college Qbs fall in that category..
once we field smarter football type guys we start getting easier wins with crappy teams and playing great teams like we play crappy teams...

I disagree with the comment that Al never throws the team under the bus. He certainly has done just that to defend his defensive system and his DC. He did it last year after KS game and seceral times this year. He called Duke out for his two fumbles against USF. I like a lot of what Al has done and think he is the best coach for us rigth now. But it would be nice to see him put the same sort of fire under Mark's rear for 4 or 5 500 yard games as he did to Duke for 2 fumbles-- which by the way were only his 2nd and 3rd since he has been here. The way I was brought up, freinds and family were held to a HIRER standard than others. Al covers his BFF's rear more than Bobby Bowden covered his son's -- we all know how well that went for Bobby with his 2 NCs and endless top 10 finishes. Al has no problem blaming people, even himself, just not BFF Mark. Making someone untouchable like that is a serious mistake, even if it is maybe the only one Al has made.

You should be obsessing about the 160 points we allowed the last 4 games, not about his speak.

Coach speak is garbage, results on the field are most important.

So did duke and v tech out recruit us as well?

You know what, don't focus on VaTech. The measuring stick is Duke and their 350+ rushing yards.

Does OP think Duke is a more talented team than Miami? I've asked this of countless Dorito defenders and not a single one of them would answer.

Not a Dorito supporter or executioner but I feel Duke had better upperclass depth than Canes. The attrition and lack of remaining talent on 09-11 classes was acc bottomfeeder caliber, FYI Duke is 9-2 and ranked 23 in the country, this aint GA southern

Been plenty vocal about your thoughts. His speech is quite telling as instead of ripping them a new one for losing to Duke by 18, he thanks the players. Then we wonder why our guys play soft. Attitude reflects leadership.

Duke never fumbled again? I have heard him more than 100 times call out coaches.....and himself

You heard the entire speech? All I heard was a 5 second clip hand-picked by an editor from 3 Penny.

The clip from 3 Penny is all I needed to hear. There shouldn't of been one word "said" should of all been "yelling" after that debacle

On paper, we definitely have more talent than Duke. That isn't really debatable, which is likely why no one answers you. But more talent does not necessarily equal better football players. Games aren't played on paper.

So... We don't have enough talent to win the coastal that was gifted to us TWICE.. By the way our recruiting rankings the last 3 years was 30-40 spots better than Duke and 15-20 spots better than VT.. VT was coming off two losses and ranked in the bottom 10 in the country in offense and Thomas had 8 turnovers in 6 quarters and had his second best game in his career against us AT HOME in a DOWNPOUR.. But yea just ignore those facts.. By the way Pitt put up 58 on Duke and Pitts offense is ranked 108th and Pitt lost to 5-6 Navy...

"Perspective" has now replaced "scheme" as the most nauseating word being overused on this board
