on the recruiting trail.
I've heard this line "Miami is definitely recruiting me the hardest" at least 15 times over the past month or so. Talk about the absolute opposite compared to the previous staff, where the #1 line out of of kid's mouths was "I like Miami, but I haven't heard from them in a while." You can assemble some dangerous talent at Miami when the guy running the show knows what he's doing. Golden isn't sitting around and waiting for a kid to decide. He's trying to make the decision for them.
One month to go and Al and the gang are sprinting through the forest covered in blood, huffing and puffing, grunting and salivating. They're under the full moon smashing through branches and trees while Alex Collins and the others futility attempt to get to a clearing and scream for help - but it's too late. They got their scent. It's gonna be hard for any program to rip away these guys from Golden now that he's closing in on them. We are about to close strong....

i completely disagree with this relentless approach to recruiting. Like many have said on here (after we lose a recruit), I prefer taking only the guys who are true canes to the core and don't need convincing.
From one of the stories I read last night on Amari Cooper (maybe it was a post here) aggressive recruiting backfired with him. Cooper said Golden was pressuring him to commit and Cooper's mother wanted him to go away. Still, I think, on balance, kids react to coaches that show them the love and push hard. I suspect some of our recent past head coaches didn't show enough love, too low key. Many people react to enthusiasm and they want to jump on board.
We'll know if a few weeks how it turns out but I'm very optimistic about Golden's approach and his ability to close.
