Golden was on this morning with Sid [no...I do not listen to Sid but the rental car I just picked up had the station on pre-set].

I caught the end of the interview but Sid's last question was about Benedict. Golden paused and said [paraphrasing] "I don't begrudge any coach for trying to further their career...Mario did what Mario thought was in the best interest of his career and his family." There was no further comment.

It was a quick and calculated response. His sounded ****ed. I mean he was joking with Sid up until that point and his tone suddenly became terse.

No freakin' way he blessed the move. Not a chance. This was not an amicable departure.

If anybody else caught the beginning of the interview, I'm sure many of us wold appreciate quick summary.

Cristobal will never be welcomed back

I agree. Nobody knows Golden's plans and it was pretty clear Mario would have been next in line. Why ruin your chances by taking a position job at another school regardless of the amount of money they are throwing at you. It was just a silly move on his part.

Eh, I don't that's accurate. As shady as the move was, the move really isn't that silly. He's jumping on the tails of a Saban-coached team that will guarantee him quick success and more notoriety than he has or would have gotten in a full season with our beloved []_[]. In a world where just about everyone is out for self and altruism is a thing read only in fairy tales and psychology books, did you really think he'd stick around? I personally thought 1 full season AT MOST!

Golden will be the coach here for 15 years, then he will be the athletic director after that. The guy was built for college athletics. His Tony Robbins theories aint gonna work in the NFL, it is great for molding young men but in the NFL guys don't want to hear that ****. Cold hard truth, but its true.

Mario is gone, he will never be in the 305 professionally again. I am pretty sure Golden will make sure of that.

Cristobal will have to outlast everyone currently at UM to ever get a job as HC here. There is zero doubt he burned down the bridge back to UM.

Golden recap

-Fav movies, "Raging Bull, Godfathers, Jaws"
-On Griffin: Talked with Coach L at length about him as a prospect for bball as well. Golden said he needs to re-take the SAT's, but does not speak on kids academics (privacy issues). Lots of kids still taking standardized tests anyways, all the way up until May/June.

-On investigation:Can't really talk about it. What he has been privy too, he believes it is time to move on. Unfair he has been dealing with this for 2+ years, and now affecting a third recruiting class. Impacted the past 2 seasons (kids getting asked about it all the time). Miami has done everything right. Miami should serve as the model for cooperation. If we don't get the support, then other teams in the future will not cooperate. Asks - How do you calculate the impact this has had? Several kids de-committed and signed elsewhere, how is that included in the impact?

-On the 2013 recruiting class: Group based on need. Called Edwards a "big running back." Says Sonny O is a name people will remember, 6'7'' 315lbs right now. Speaks 3 languages. Grace will play WLB. Ray Lewis III will probably start at CB.

-Cristobal: Made a decision that was best for him and his family. Felt it in his heart. Best of luck.

Of all the misguided and stupid statements I have read on this board, yours ranks near the top. Tell Jedd Fisch that it would have been quicker to land an NFL OC gig if he had been at Bama rather then on Golden's staff. You are like Mark May who bases his statements off of misguided ideas rather then facts. Mario's move was stupid. It was disrespectful and he burned his bridge at his alma mater.
