Golden and 4th downs

Was talking about it while watching Alabama Auburn last night. Both coaches play to win the game. Not just 4th downs. But how about Alabama going long on 1st down with their back in the end zone? A team reflects its coach, and if he's not confident, how are they going to be? Conservative in too many offensive situations, bend but don't break defense, were playing not to lose across the board. It ******* sucks.

We've done that numerous times this year backed up. Fact is, Golden get crucified around here for everything these days. Coley calls a pass play on 1st down after we've been running it successfully, "we should have kept running it". This **** is getting ridiculous. Carry on.

funny that you posted this -- you do realize that Saban going for it on 4 and 2 on their 15 with 2 minutes left was ****ing stupid and cost Alabama a chance to 3-peat right?

It's always stupid when you don't make it. Bottom line is both are great coaches and both played to win the game.

Throughout his tenure here Ive been happy with coach Golden's 4th down decisions.

I will say that I was very disappointed during both the Va Tech and Duke games when he chose to punt on 4th and less than 5 when everyone in the stadium knew his defense was not going to stop the other team. To me, that was a damning indication that he was unaware of just how bad his defense was.
