Yes at Wildcat. A 3-4 turns into a 5-2 alignment against the TE's. A lot of our problems, as I see it, is alignment and assignment! Both of which falls back to the DC! Either our playbook is too **** big, or our DC does a s#1tty job of explaining it. The scheme is fine. I run a basic 3-4 defense against all of these HS spread teams in GA. I play almost NO 2 gap! Even when we line up in a 0 and two 4 (techniques), we are gonna be slanting like **** and playing one gap. For all of you 4-3 guys, you can just slide your front, either strong or weak, and the 3-4 will give you a basic 4-3 alignment. Which is why I like the 3-4 so much. You basically have 3 defenses in 1 package (3-4, 4-3, and 5-2). IMO, NoDonfrio, plays too much **** 2 gap. We don't have the DL personnel to be effective running a lot of 2 gap stuff. I don't totally know what the problem is at the U (talent, youth, incompetence, playbook, etc.?) and I realize that the College level is much more complicated than the HS level. That being said, we should have enough talent NOT to be getting our teeth kicked in every **** Saturday, by the likes of Duke, NC, VTech, etc. S#it is frustrating!
