Glaring issue on defense

Ole Miss beat them 40-6 though WF did move the ball a little bit through the air it was never consistent

If we want to talk **** about SEC bias then we need to have results like that
Total agreement. I’ll reserve judgment for the bye week recuperation. If it’s a dog fight I’m just going to have to throughly lower my remaining expectations of this season.

Jafari Harvey has 5 sacks and JHH has two sacks for SMU. Corey Flagg has 66 tackles for Missouri. We ran them out of town, and they all transferred to play for defenses that are better than us at this point.
We miss Flagg a **** of a lot more than most on here will ever admit.

This is such a lazy take. But predictable.

If it’s always “on the coaches”, the best coaches would never, ever have weaknesses anywhere on their team. But that doesn’t happen. No one takes mediocre talent and just fixes it like we’re playing a video game.
Who’s fault is it that we have mediocre talent?

Let me guess - the coordinators, the position coaches, Mario’s only had five portal cycles and two full recruiting classes, it takes a decade to change culture, it takes time to flip a roster.

Did I cover them all?

It’s 100% on the coaches if we don’t have the horses with our budget in the portal era.

It's all of their fault if you're determined to find someone to blame, whatever good that will do. Meanwhile, every team in college football has weaknesses, so you're painting yourself into a corner with a standard that no one is attaining.

I didn’t say there was a perfect team. You deflected from the original point that we have mediocre talent, and I asked why is that with a recruiting savant that is a master evaluator. That’s all.

And you're trying to start a "blame" argument that isn't there. We do have mediocre talent on that side of the ball. Blame Mario, blame Guidry, blame whoever you want.

I’m not trying to blame anyone, I’m just asking why we have mediocre talent? You’ve failed to answer which is interesting, as someone that likes to argue for the sake of arguing Jagr.

Boring day at work? Funny how I'm the one who argues for the sake of arguing, but you had to dig up an old post to......start an argument. Goonish behavior.

My point all along was that no one just "fixes" mediocre talent in the middle of the season by just calling different plays. No one. Start a new thread to blame the recruiting if you want. But don't drag me into something that wasn't said.

The long *** Mesh is cheating lol

Nah, the easiest way to deal with that is just a torpedo Blitzer to attack the ball on every snap. It doesn't matter whether they hand it off or throw, it will speed up the QB's processing time & force him to make a decision quicker if he's got a Blitzer coming straight at him.

That's Mauigoa's strong point as a LB, he can Torpedo really well. So if Guidry is hellbent on playing him the majority of the snaps at LB, then that should be his assignment.

Just go collapse the Mesh every snap, don't drop & cover, don't even worry about pursuing the ball carrier, just go rush the Mesh point & force the QB to do something with it quickly.

I was just thinking the exact same thing this morning. Just absolutely smash Kiko through the A-gap on every single snap. If the QB pulls and throws the ball behind him in the middle, OK. We can rally to that and tackle (try not to laugh, please), and we can adjust off it. But don't let them do what they like to do, which is run that slow *** mesh for as long as possible. Send a cruise missile through the A-Gap on every single play.

Whole heartedly agree. I feel like our defensive philosophy (for a numerous amount of reasons) has been playing on their heels and into the offensive scheme instead of being aggressive and challenging the opposing offense to change up what they initially wanted to run coming in. I do understand we have to work with what we have.

Jaden Harris has been *** and he’s stinking up the defense he misses every open field tackle. If he’s 1 on 1 open field with anyone he’s toast every **** time. QB WR or RB and that’s easy extra yardage for offenses.
