Gimenez & Regalado support stadium at Downtown boat slip....

At first I had hopes but now I don't think the Canes will benefit from any of this. They won't build a stadium for 45,000 when all they need is one that seats 20,000. Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if in ten years we are talking about the failed experiment that was soccer in Miami and the unused soccer stadium that sits unneeded in Miami.

Agree...the only thing I could ever see happening is if the MLS team fails and the Canes can somehow take over the stadium and have it renovated... that's about it

Other than that....This MLS thing was going to happen with or without UM for a couple reasons

1. They want to use their own money to build the stadium...

2. Its DAVID BECKHAM..... Ive known quite a bit of politicians and if its one thing they like its rubbing elbows with celebrities. Its makes them feel more important than they really are...

If any of you people root for the Marlins you should hand in your Cane card. That piece of trash organization should be burned at the stake for stealing our sacred ground.

Get your foot in the door with the soccer stadium approval.

I'm ok with this if in 10 years we can add a 2nd level to double the capacity and make it our stadium.

The new MLS stadium site at the FEC boat slip measures 1,200 feet by 315 feet at its widest point. A football field's width of just the field with sidelines for the team is 195 feet without the stands. A soccer field width is 222 feet wide. That gives you just 93 feet split into two 46 foot sections (living room size ) between both the visitor and home team sidelines for fans to sit behind the teams.

FEC Dimensions from this story.
