I get the raw talent but that game log leaves ALOT to be desired. If anything, the narrative should be around how the gators started blocking better and the defense did alright after being sodomized by Cam and Co.

Been screaming this at any and every gator fan I come across. You would think Lagway just had Tim Tebow's '09 Stats the way some of them are talking about him. None of them acknowledge that their defense was borderline elite to end the year and their running game was the engine that made them go. DJ threw a few nice deep balls that got coordinators playing them a bit differently and that helpd the rest of the O for sure. But outside of MSST who everyone put numbers up on, they had one other game all year where they put up 30 or more against a P4 team. I'm supposed to be afraid of THAT?!

Nah, Lagway is the real deal.

Problem is, the guy who will be calling the plays for him (his HC) has no clue what he is doing, how to call plays, and has never been a good play designer.

That was the difference with Tebow. He had Mullen dialing it up for him.

Yards per attempt: 8.73 vs 9.11

Yards per game: 158.2 vs 159.6
Passer rating: 164.1 vs 154.9

Lagway was worse than Mertz last year in most categories. The areas he was better were only by a tiny margin.

Take away Samford and Lagway’s numbers are 58% 8.73ypc 9/6 132.6 ypg.

Poor man’s Malik Rosier.
 
Lagway could be good but with slick Billy dialing it up forget about it. Best part is they could get to maybe 7-8 wins and that would be progress and they keep him another year

He’s not the real deal right now . He can’t read coverages , he literally throw two interceptions right to Tulane . Yes , he will great but he still has a lot to learn . They’re setting their expectations way too high next year . End of next year he will be way better

Yeah, he has a lot of raw ability but he’s not where they think he is yet in terms of performance and Billy isn’t one I’d consider a QB/game calling OC savant.

He can sling it but he can’t see the field. A lot of guys can throw it and throw darts but if you can’t see sh you can make mistakes. The best qbs see everything and it’s slow to them, everyone is in slow motion. Pause

My bull gator partner is drinking the kool aide again. He said he put 10 units on the over at 6.5. For him that is a strong statement. I asked how much he would bet me on the same number for Miami and he gave me the finger and walked out. To quote some song from long ago, “I feel good…..”

If he can’t see it he can’t see it. It means he will be a first read guy possibly. He can win but elite, we all know when you see elite. They extend plays and throw dots in the face of pressure with ease. He’s going to need Billy to draw things up on first read (which most coaches can do including Billy)

But when they face a team that can make him scan the field that’s when you have a chance to make him under perform. Don’t think he’s a qb that can win you games consistently imo. He’s won’t be like the main reason they win, sort of like Hurts. He has to have a full deck if not he ****ed. And the gators do not have a full deck
