yall are trippin thinking Kelly is a trash coach.
Oregons kryptonite has always been smash mouth Defenses that are tough in the trenches and push their **** in... I.e Stanford or any SEC team they played in bowls
How would it look if he played Bama, UGA, LSU, USCe etc with those teams always loading up in the trenches to push his soft gimmick offense in
His 1st yr he won PAC12 (first pac coach to win conference outright in 1st yr). Lost in Rose bowl to tOSU. Named PAC coach of yr. Finished 11th
His 2nd yr he took them to the national championship where he lost to AU by 3. He swept all coach of yr awards. Finished 3rd.
His 3rd yr he blew out
#3 Stanford. Won 3rd straight PAC championship. Beat Wisconsin in Rose Bowl. Finished
#4 .
His 4th and last yr he lost to stanford in OT with RS FR Mariota at QB. Beat KState in Fiesta Bowl. 4th consecutive BCS Bowl game. Finished 2nd.
He beat Stanford twice and lost to them twice, once in OT where they missed game winning field goals twice.
But yeah, he was a terrible coach
Look, you seem to need a gentle approach when discussing football issues, so I will say this very politely.
Chip Kelly is hot garbage, and here are the reasons why.
He spent all of 4 years at Oregon, but he didn't have to do much. He inherited a 10-3 bowl-winning team from Bellotti who RETIRED. Thus, there was no turbulence or transition associated with him being elevated to HC from OC.
Kelly then proceeded to go 10-3 again, this time losing his first bowl game. He then won 12 games for the next 3 seasons, which is admirable, but he won no national championships. And in that INCREDIBLY short span of time, he managed to get an 18-month show-cause and 3 years of probation for Oregon.
He then left for the NFL. He did OK at Philadelphia, winning 10 games twice, but he was fired in his third season while under .500.
He coached for 1 year at San Francisco, going 2-14.
He does not even coach, currently.
Not only is his career on a downward trajectory, I would simply say that we have all seen this movie before. I'll give you two words: Larry Coker. I'll give you two more words: Dennis Erickson.
Both of those UM coaches not only inherited great programs at UM, but they also had more success over their first 4 seasons than what Chip Kelly had in his ONLY 4 seasons at Oregon. Coker won one national championship (arguably two) and Erickson won two national championships. Yet, ever since those guys left UM (one voluntarily, though also somewhat followed by the NCAA sanctions, while the other was fired), they have not had anywhere close to the same record of success that they had in their first 4 years at UM.
That's why Chip Kelly is not such a hotshot, he is simply overrated and riding on the memories of a great 4-year run.
And, to relate this to Gaytor Tears: THIS IS WHY I WOULD LAUGH IF UF EVEN CONSIDERS CHIP KELLY - THERE WILL BE MORE TEARS IF HE IS HIRED, AND THERE WILL BE MORE TEARS IF HE IS NOT HIRED.
