Tears Gator Tears

Yall have buy out money that will have to be filled back up next year if he fcks up again. 7 and 5 next year will not cut it for your fans and we all know this . What I’m saying if he doesn’t win 9 games next year they’re going to fire him imo

Yea bruh tbh. Whether it’s realistic or not, it’s playoffs or bust if we’re going all in with Napier next. Well we are so the whole 8-9 win stuff not acceptable. Again, i will still fly the banner that with the current staff we have in place, mainly Napier being the OC, that if the standard to win it all and seriously contend for the title, this won’t cut it.

I don’t mind the flips we’ve gotten, not sure about the Cincy OL flip, but we still need more top end talent. We’ve gotten solid contributions on the portal but the only one(s) i’d say was elite or close to that was Pearsall and Torrence (who followed Napier). Badger been solid to almost great for what he’s been doing but not ELITE ELITE.

Also, this mid teens HS recruiting classes not gonna cut it. Need to be in the top 10

Ppl saying saying “the gators improved”

When you are trash the only place to go is up.

And the Lagway hype is super overblown.

Living off of his high school rep and a few decent plays again he looks a lot better because the comparison is mertz. Who never took any deep shots and wasn’t mobile at all.

He numbers and performance doesn’t suggest “program savoir” but let’s be real what else does Florida have?

I don't agree about Lagway. It's more than the numbers. He has the respect of his teammates. They've clearly played better with him at the helm. He's definitely elevated the play of the people around him. Maybe it's his leadership. I don't know, but they have 2 "quality" wins and were ahead against Georgia before Lagway got hurt. While I pathologically can't stand that program, he's a difference-maker on a team mostly made up of JAGS. They are playing better and are improving as the season has gone on. I think he stays there. If Napier had been fired, he was gone, imo. We'll see what happens this off-season with them.

Napier has an average QB at best who only had one good game against Samford. The other two hi passing games were 226 and 259 where he is averaging 147 yards a game with 9 TDs and 7 INTs. 63.9 QB rating. Not even average and could be a bust. Napier sounds like a QB killer.

But but but we got money for Lagway is what your peeps are saying in here tho soooooooooooo we either got bags or not

Look, stop pretending like you've had money all along.

Hugh Hathnocock promised Rashada $14M and then almost immediately reneged. Florida had NO MONEY to bridge the gap.

Nobody claims that you offered Lagway $14M. But he got something.

And now, when the boosters decided to convert Slingblade Billy's buyout money into NIL, you guys are acting like you are rich...

One-time accounting tricks are not the way to build a sustainable NIL program.

But good for you, Florida is on a 3-star buying binge.

So Lagway committed a month after Rashada committed and stayed because Rashada checked bounced? If we didn’t have the money for Rashada where did the money from Lagway come from?

Please re-read your post. You already answered your own question.

DJ Lagway committed to Florida on December 7, 2022.

Jaden Rashada's NIL termination letter was sent two weeks before the Signing Day of December 21, 2022. In other words, December 7, 2022.

A day which will live in infamy.

Florida never had the money to pay BOTH quarterbacks.

Therefore, "the money for Lagway" came from "the money for Rashada".

From a leadership standpoint, Lagway is a chubby Cam Ward. He stays calm, even after he throws an awful interception, and his teammates like and respect that.

Now, whether he STAYS in Hogtown may just be impacted by whether Slingblade Billy can close on some better recruits and coaches.

He’s special and i’m not joking. Let’s keep it real, Florida keeping Napier because the team honestly has gotten better as the season has gone on BUT we allllllso KNOW they don’t want to lose Lagway or put that motion in the air if they were to replace Napier and leave it up to chance the next coach can keep him from hitting the portal.

I said it earlier this season that we still need an OC, still feel that way, because he’s doing this with play calling that could stand to be way better (it’s rare to see us with wide open receivers) but the more success Lagway has, it’ll justify Napier wanting to remain the OC going forward which to me does limit Lagway.

Again, still gotta get better in the short/intermediate passing game which comes along with getting better at reading defenses. Him being hurt with the hammy will help with that a bit imo since he’s being forced to stay in the pocket and make plays there.
I honestly don’t think he leaves uf at all. That’s being non biased.

Yeah I’m ngl I dont understand the offensive scheme for a player like lagway seems to handicap him.

Seems like uf’s bold move is working in the sense it’s keeping it together. Again if that’s lack of president or the pay out idk.

Ok so Lagway committed to UF during the Rashada fiasco (back when we had the Gator Collective) and weren’t a lot of yall saying Florida was broke and aint got the funds to pay em? Weren’t some of yall saying UF NIL was late on payments on whatever? So either we got the funds or we don’t.

And @Hurracanes, ask your Gator “friend” how much we paying Lagway currently since he knows so much about Lagway asking price.

And Lagway reached out to other schools but he reaffirmed his belief in Napier when it was publicly announced that he was being retained?

Yall all over the place
In all honesty it was the other way around from the schools up north trolling hard on us being broke for a long time. The fact the rashada thing came out opened the flood gates for us and I don’t want to hear another thing about fsu and money lmao.

my point is, either UF got chili or they don’t cause folks on this board flip flop with that narrative depending on the recruit/situation.

When we were rated 3rd in recruiting last summer we were throwing around money and paying recruits to visit etc etc according to this board but when a lot of kids flipped last year, why didn’t we just pay em some extra chili to stay in the class and keep it together? Or did we use that extra chili to pay Lagway more?

That really would be ironic. Lagway is primary (only) reason some of these kids have been commiting to the Gates and if he leaves, they'll be stuck w/Billy and the G5s.

Whether I joke about Povery Hogtown, I don't think The Gator is devoid of chili.

Now, you have a **** small chili bowl. But that's a different issue. And you definitely don't have enough crackers and sour cream and cheese and onions.

If you think you've got Miami-chili, you don't. You can't pay an entire team, that's why Slingblade Billy has 46 walk-ons.

Yea keeping it honest, Napier a beneficiary of luck. Along with the no president situation that saved him (and our AD’s job cause the bball scandal with Coach Golden has been swept smooooth under the rug), Mertz was a solid bridge QB from AR to Lagway but if he doesn’t get hurt, along with Tre Wilson getting hurt too, we’re still running 30 pop passes to Wilson and Lagway is coming in every 3rd series & you saw where that was getting us overall.

He, Napier, will handicap this team if he doesn’t take the Bowden approach and get an OC and get out the way. He’s not a good OC.

Lol i’m glad you know i’m in here just to stir up stuff and just being silly with my post about chili etc.

Tbh though, I do want to see how they attack/approach the portal to see how serious they are about winning. Taking food off FSU plate this cycle doesn’t move my needle tbh unless they close with Thomas. Would love Dallas Wilson (he just signed with Vernell Brown’s dad’s sports agency) but i doubt it

This is a very honest question.

Regardless of whether you sign the #1 high school class...most of those guys will NOT contribute much next year.

You lose some decent talent.

Unless you hit some grand-slams in the Portal...you've got a brutal schedule next year...is Slingblade terminated with fewer than 8 wins?

Dude it’s not that complicated. Your boosters made a deal with Rashada and stiffed him. It’s not that they don’t have any money, it’s that they didn’t want to pay the amount they promised, so your NIL has been unreliable. But UiF boosters always had money. They are paying to land players like everyone with NIL and they may keep Lagway, I personally have no idea either way. I do know that @Hurracanes and @Brooklyndee aren’t making up the outreach thing. 1 if not both told me about it when it happened which was shortly after our game. Nonetheless, I’d think he stays but there’s no guarantees.

It is called a budget. Rashada check bounced so Billy made sure to get Lagway last year. Exception, not rule. Furthermore, Florida right now is spending money flipping these 3 stars but Billy doesn’t have the support to offer for the big bag that can really move the needle. That’s why you’re not getting French or Wilson. Unfortunately, Brown and possibly Hanks are too blinded to see the truth so you guys may get them both. Oh well, **** em for being stupid.
Wilson signed with Vernell Brown Management so we’ll see if that means he’s a gator.

Lagway reaching out to us was confirmed by multiple people. But when @Brooklyndee confirms it, you can take it to the bank.
