Tears Gator Tears

I don’t know how many of you have spent time in Gainesville, or have been to a game there. I’ve done both, and that racist shīt is prevalent as fūck in the city, surrounding area, and among the fanbase.

That's the thing with these SEC towns - it really doesn't matter what the town is like. The campuses (and to a further extent, the football team) is completely isolated from the town and the players enjoy getting the keys to this kingdom. The town itself (or outskirts) has very little day to day affect on the players, I would surmise.

Contemplated making this its own thread, and not trying to get into politics but for any recruit that attempts to claim UF is not racist.... Florida Gov. Rick Scott declared a state of emergency Monday in anticipation of a speech by white nationalist Richard Spencer at the University of Florida.

This is the same guy who led the march in Charlottseville. So literally the entire state of Florida is in a state of emergency because UF is giving this well-known racist a forum...

And of all the places in Florida he could speak why did he choose Gainesville.....because you cater to your audience

Precisely... Bet he didn't even reach out to schools in south Florida or even Tampa where the population is more diverse...

I wish recruits look at **** like this but all they see is green

I’m not wishing on it but what if anything close to what happened in Charlottesville goes down when he speaks. Can you imagine the negative impact that would have on them recruiting? That’s probably what it would take for recruits to open their eyes

Here's the thing about the Gaytors coaching job.

Their alums and fans think it is a Top 5 coaching job. It is not.

Furthermore, the way in which Spurrier and Urban left really hurt UF, though they won't admit it. Spurrier left his own alma mater, where they have a statue of him. Urban faked a heart attack to get out of Hogtown. The coaching fraternity takes note of that and starts to think that the job is toxic.

Since that time, they have made horrible hires. Not even "hometown" Muschamp could hack it.

If UF could get past the racism, they would be smart to hire a coach like Dino Babers, who is trying to run 100 offensive plays per game. That type of mindset by a HC could be very attractive to skill position recruits.

Otherwise, they are going to continue to repeat their failures.

When Spurrier left the NFL, UF was hiring a coach, and Spurrier went back to UF to speak about the job.

UF had the balls to ask, "We'll need your coaching credentials."

Spurrier told them before he walked out, "My credentials are in your trophy case!"

They actually could have had Spurrier back - after his taste of the NFL - but UF was butthurt - and they really screwed themselves.

Never heard this before but they ended up with Urban Meyer after Zook.. Spurrier is really really overated. He lucked into one national championship and sucked *** the last 6 years of coaching UF. He's also a **** quitter when in the middle of the season for USC decided he was done a move that somehow wasn't annihilated because he's "the old ball coach"

Exactly, it has to be big news on campus, I am sure as Thur gets closer when he is scheduled to speak things will go more public. Apparently UF spent over $500,000 on security for the event which is good because no one wants another Charlottesville, but it almost makes UF look worse in my opinion... not only are you letting this guy speak, you are paying half a mil to allow him to do it?

Imagine if any recruits were on campus while this was going down? Or even if some current players happen to be walking by and witness first hand? Just ridiculous.

Says the racist

For one, OCCC is usually one of the first people to call out racism, primarily in the SEC, and he's been consistent. Please keep this shît out of this thread. It has no basis and it doesn't belong here in Gator Tears.

I just want to take a minute to thank everyone who makes this thread possible. I'm a longtime reader of this forum but never posted before until now. So for my first post I just wanted to give thanks to every poster who makes gator tears happen. This blog is as good as it gets and brings nothing joy and laughs in my life every morning when I'm drinking my coffee. Gator tears is literally one of things I look most forward to everyday! Lol

To be fair, the gayters are producing their own tears, we just try to collect as many as we can. Welcome.

Does anyone have the text of the article?

By "scoop", I am imagining a tool used to clean out a cat's litter box.

Maybe Canes2082 or Zbrod95 if they get a chance.

They've already seen Gouraige lean Clemson, they're not getting Petit-Frere and who knows what William Barnes, who was looking at them and UNC, is thinking now with both of them in the toilet. I'm interested in what happens on the OL as well as on the DL. I don't think they're in it for a good DT prospect.

It's gonna be even better when the skills commits start bailing and they're going to be scrambling around trying to fill holes everywhere.
