To me it isn't even just the record that would have him on the hot set. Their roster is worse now than when he took over. He hasn't improved the level of talent on the team and has shown to be bad at recruiting while also having 2 losing seasons.

There is zero doubt about this. When Billy gets fired, which hopefully will be after the 2025 season or during the 2025 season, Stricklin will go with him.
I’m definitely one of those people that hopes Billy somehow makes it through next year. Maybe if they win like five or six games. Right now that doesn’t look super likely, it looks more like a four win season, but somehow I still hope he manages to squeeze out one more year.
I would think that Stricklin is doing everything he can to keep Billy as long as he can, because his fate is inexorably intertwined with Sling Blade’s.

1000% agree and it’s not good to come out and say your coach is on the hot seat… that will affect everything from ticket sales to recruiting to donors etc…

It’s a 2005 mentality. Mack Brown at UT used to have his class for February locked up after Junior Day the previous April. Perhaps Napier is in the same outdated mindset.
