Tears Gator Tears

Yeah, the thing they don't get is that if Mario can stay getting these top kids, it won't matter if he's a good coach or not. Scheme is great, but you can do a lot of winning on pure talent.
What they don't understand (I didn't before Mario got hired) was putting so much stock into the HC being a HC or DC over talent acquisition.

Nick Saban is considered one of the best if not the best coaches in college football. What is he really? He's a great CEO. He's not a DC or an OC. He doesn't coach every player on the team. He coaches DBs. One could argue He's just a mediocre coach applying the same logic as the Gator. Saban isn't winning with less. He's winning with more. More than nearly every team on his schedule. Saban can't take a bunch of 3-stars to the playoffs. Per Jimbo, he's not God.

So, all this Gator crybaby **** is just to convince themselves that Mario isn't another Saban. In many ways they are similar, but Mario is a better recruiter because he is the recruiter. Saban hires the best recruiters that do 99% of the work. Mario hires great recruiters and has his hands personally on all the recruits as the best recruiter. That's what separates him from all other HCs and that's a big problem for everyone including Billy goat Napier.

Why is Saban considered one of the greatest college football coaches? Because to this date, he's been the greatest CEO of any college football team. Mario understands that. That's what he brings to Miami. The ability to construct the next Amazon or Google. The Gator doesn't understand that. I didn't. Now I do!!!

The Gator just wants to convince himself that what's happening isn't real and that for me is glorious in all its splendor!!!!

Maybe in a couple of years, the gator can hire Manny as their new coach? His defense at Penn State will likely still be solid because his players haven’t taken over yet.

Different caterer per Blake.

Wait, so they are using the OTHER caterer in Hogtown?

I actually think that Balake mentioned Shannon Snell, who is the brand ambassador and BBQ pitmaster for Sonny's. So "Snell" and "Sonny's" are really the same thing.

It's even worse, I saw a posting on the Gaytor site that said Gaypier had past history with Peagler as well, their TE coach who is not helping with recruiting AT ALL and has only been an on-field coach for TWO YEARS.

Apparently, Peagler was a STUDENT ASSISTANT at Clemson back when Billy got fired there, plus he spent one whole year as an analyst at Louisiana when Billy was there. So what was originally a "Peagler is a rising star, he was great at Michigan State" storyline is now turning out to be yet another case of Billy hiring an old friend from Louisiana.
Lol billy got fired from Clemson?

The fact that they’re discussing the differences in Snell vs Sonny’s ribs is telling of the level of culinary sophistication we’re talking about.

Blake referred to whatever they served kirkland as a “monstrosity” and not who they are using For this event.

Holy 💩 that is hilarious! I remember reading a fluff piece on ESPN about how Napier was the next big thing at HC before he went to Florida and it talked about how he’d spent time with both Dumbo and Satan and how it was so amazing.

Don’t remember it mentioning he’d been canned though or at least they blew it off lol

Edit: nvm just checked again and they mention it. He got promoted very young to OC and they write about it as a part of his growth blah blah

People have to REEEEALLY pay attention to Billy Gaypier's career to realize what a joke it is (not saying YOU, just in general)...

Billy played football at Furman, then he was the GA at Clemson for 2 years. Furman is right down the road from Clemson (opposite sides of Greenville), so this all makes sense so far. Then he went down to South Carolina State for a year, which is between Greenville and Columbia.

Here's where the Forrest Gump stuff comes in. So Tommy Bowden hires Billy to be the TEs coach at Clemson, where Billy was for 3 years (Bowden resigned during Billy's third year). And we all know who the WRs coach was, good ol' Dabo Swinney. So for three years, Dabo and Billy worked together on the Clemson passing game. So then when Dabo gets the Clemson interim HC job, he turns to his buddy Billy and makes him QB coach. Why? Because Billy played QB and coached it at SC State for ONE year. Guess that makes sense for a guy who jumps from WR coach to Head Coach.

Anyhow, when Dabo gets the full-time Clemson HC job, he makes Billy his OC and QB coach. Great. So then Year 1 goes well, 9 wins, but Year 2 was terrible and Clemson goes 6-6, with Dabo firing his five-year friend Billy Gaypier.

So then Billy goes from OC to just an analyst at Alabama for one year. Then one year as WRs coach at Colorado State. And then Billy gets touched by the hand of God. Nick Saban hires Billy as WRs coach and employs him for 4 years. After that, Billy spends ONE year at Arizona State as OC and QBs coach before being hired as Head Coach by Louisiana.

And here's the reality. Outside of his 8 years bouncing around South Carolina schools and being in the right place at the right time when Dabo was elevated, and besides the 4-year stint at Nick Saban's Coaching Rehab Clinic, what has Billy done? He has a bunch of 1 and 2 year tenure jobs at non-descript schools, and a 4-year run as the Head Coach at a G5 school.

So with all of that, he gets the job at University of Flagship Gaytor Brandz Nation Yo.

Talk about failing upward...

They said he got fired for punching Dabo Swinney for interfering with his play calling

Entirely possible. After working side-by-side for 5 years.

And Billy is mad that the HC is "interfering with his play calling" in the middle of a 6-6 season. What did Billy THINK was going to happen in that situation?

Napier is the next Al Golden and the clown that was at Tennessee. Thinking they get paid to be life coaches. Fake slogans and ****. G5 bullies telling future pharmacists they are great as they can conquor the world if they try hard enough. Don't wanna get into recruiting battles with Alpha coaches. Bums

I agree Sun Belt Billy got very lucky when Dabo got promoted that he had the experience and relationship with Sweeney to get hired as the QB coach and OC, but I don’t think it’s luck that Saban hired him as an analyst and I don’t think it’s luck that made Saban brought him back to coach WRs after he’d done it for a year and had worked on Saban’s staff as an analyst.

Saban isn’t bringing a former analyst back onto his staff unless he believes in the work the guy does.

Who you know is a big part of being successful in life and it isn’t always a bad thing. Just because someone knows you doesn’t mean they’re going to hire you for a job opening they have: they’ve got to believe you’ll do the job well.

Dabo was unknown at the time and didn’t have as big a network so hiring one of his guys made sense for him and it was lucky for Billy. That Clemson did better than people expected and his experience working for dabo looked so great was also good fortune.

But saban was established already and he isn’t doing people favors when he hires them. He is making his program better. He has a lot of choices about who he hires and can be very selective. Hiring billy after having him work on his staff would show at minimum that the guy works hard and is smart enough not to **** things up.

I don’t know what’s true and what isn’t. I know that an assistant punching a head coach could’ve easily been a career killer so I question it absent self-defense. You walk out of a place before you do that unless you’re attacked. And this is coming from a guy (me) who in his 20’s threw a punch at his boss.

But that spoiled DC suburban ***** intimated that I was *** one too many times at lunch - and I just looked at him knowing that even in the nice place I grew up in in Miami Beach, we’d beat this Potomac/ Bethesda pussoir silly - and said “you’re a puzzy” and the *****’s silver spoon eggshell ego couldn’t handle it and he came at me and pushed me like a fairy and so he met Mr. Roundhouse Right.

One of the proudest moments of my working career to this day. And yeah, that was my last day of work there. I went out on a high note.
