But WHY would Mauigoa favor Tennessee over Miami other than financial reasons?

The huge Samoan population in Knoxville (and miss me with that Nico nonsense)? The proximity to the ocean? The climate? The long history of Tennessee COACHES (not the school itself) developing OLs for the NFL draft?

Oh, but a kid from Hawaii is sooooo enamored of "game day atmosphere", right? I mean, he supposedly likes Tennessee more than Miami, and the "most cited reason" for UT being better than UM is "game day atmosphere", right?

It’s also great when they toss the line out of “Mario was at Oregon, so he should be landing more top level recruits at this point than Billy.” Did someone force them to hire a guy from a G5 conference without those contacts or reputation?

In the three non-COVID seasons at Oregon, Mario want 9-4, 12-2, and 10-3. So explain to me how "9-3" is the best we should hope for?

Again, this is the typical Gaytor nonsense. They will try to hang the MIRACLE that Mario performed at FIU around his neck due to W-L record. They will DIMINISH what Mario did in ONLY 4 years as head coach at Oregon.

But then they will GLORIFY Billy Gaypier as a recruiter, developer, and head coach, even though he's never held a job for more than 4 consecutive years, thus making it hard to decipher exactly what Billy did HIMSELF.

Did Billy improve Louisiana's record? YES.

Did Billy recruit a bunch of blue chippers? NO.

Did Billy develop some players at Alabama and Louisiana? I guess. Some guys he coached for 1 year, but there's almost nobody that he coached for 4 years.

Exactly, that’s part of the cost of what they did. If they saw Napier as a long term development type coach then ok but they shouldn’t be hiring projects.

To be fair, neither Mario, Riley, or Kelly would have taken the UF job. The program is toxic.

They were only able to hire Corey Raymond because Brian Kelly is a moron and let go one of the best, of not the best, DB coach in CFB. Wanna bet Raymond wishes he would have waited out the HC dominoes and taken another job?

Right. If your brand was as strong as you think it is, then why is that where you’re focusing your search. Miami and USC got P5 coaches to move. What’s their excuse? Or, go get the right P5 coordinator who has the network. Or the right NFL guy with that cache.
 
Has anyone mentioned that Billy’s first game at UF is against Utah? We get to compare how a Mario coached team performs as opposed to a Napier coached team. What are they gonna say about Mario when their own coach gets boat raced by the utes at home with their vaunted “game day atmosphere”?
