Tears Gator Tears

You’d think he’d know having spent time at Bama but it seems exactly as you’re saying. How many of his staff came from ULL?

He got lucky with Raymond but beyond that, he doesn’t seem to have the ability to hire close to the level of coaches they’re talking about competing against. That takes time unless he’s a savant who can identify the best up and comers and catch lightning in a bottle throughout his staff.

On the recruiting side, I don’t see it and as it relates to him, he’s not a better X’s and O’s guy than Mullet so I’m not seeing championships or getting in to a 4 team CFP.

Gaypier took ULL coaches, recruits, and transfers.

Here's the funny thing. Since hiring Spurrier, the Gaytors have almost exclusively hired first-time HCs (Zook, Muschamp) and G5 HCs (Urban Meyer, McElwain, Gaypier). Only one time in over 20 years have they hired a P5 HC, and that was Mullet, a two-time UM HC rejectee.

And let's not forget, when the Gaytors **** all over Scott Frost while pining for Chip Kelly, the whole anti-Frost rationale was Frost not bringing his (national champion) coaches and recruiting with him.

If you are going to accuse any Florida-area school of being "mom-and-pop" with the coaching hires, it should be the Gaytors. At least we have hired a P5 HC twice in the past 20 years, instead of once.

And of those Gaytor names, only Urban Meyer was successful in Hogtown. He did bring over 4 of his Utah position coaches, but none of his Utah coordinators. But he didn't bring a bunch of Utah recruits and transfers along with him.

But to go back to the Gaytors' playbook, it's time to call the "wait until next year" play, even if you have no evidence or reason to do so...

Can't wait until Gaypier takes a 20-yard sack for the 2023 recruiting class...

You have to love it when these Gaytor dopes say they were "4 plays" away from 10-2, when they really mean that they were "4 scores" away from 10-2 (and actually three of those 4 scores would have given them a tie, not a win)...

1. While it is true that a 2-point conversion would have TIED the UiF-Alabama game with 6 minutes left, that is not a "win", just a tie. Alabama proceeded to kill the clock, giving the ball back to the Gaytors with FOUR SECONDS left and 77 yards from the end zone. That's not "one play" away from winning, that is just pathetic.

2. UiF-Kentucky MIGHT have turned on one play, I'll give the Gaytors credit for getting to 4th and goal before failing to score. Down by 7, the Gaytors could have won with a 2-point conversion (is that TWO plays?), but the reality is that Mullet would have kicked to tie (road game) and we have no idea whether the Gaytors would have prevailed.

3. While we know that ONE PLAY cost the Gaytors the 2020 LSU game ("A SHOE!"), we don't know that with the 2021 game. Again, the Gaytors were down by 7 on the road and would have needed a TD and a 2-point converstion to win (again, is that TWO plays?). This time, they did not come as close as they did against Kentucky, throwing an INT which allowed LSU to run out the clock.

4. Because this is an OT game, I guess we technically have to give this to the Gaytors. Had the Gaytors scored in the final 8:30 of the game, they may well have won (they had 2 shots), and if they had stopped Mizzou's 2-point conversion in OT, they would have DEFINITELY won the game. Unfortunately for The Gaytor, none of those things happened, but at least this time it is accurate to say that they were one play away from winning the Mizzou game.
