Nkosi Perry gets the start for FAU vs UF today. 247 has a nice article about him:
What he said about D'Eriq King: (it's unfortunate he didn't have King as a mentor from the start. Things may have turned out differently for him)
After D’Eriq King transferred to the Hurricanes before the start of last season, Perry was once again relegated to backup. This time, though, the role was more defined.
He didn’t start a regular-season game, appearing mostly in games that were long decided, playing meaningless snaps at the end of the game.
Perry's lone look at extended playing time was in the Cheez-It Bowl against Oklahoma State, where he replaced an injured D'Eriq King in the second quarter. Although Perry's attempt at a comeback came short, it was an added opportunity that he wasn't expecting.
"It was very important. I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting to get in that game but I feel like it was a blessing in disguise that I did," Perry said. "I tried to make the best of it and I'm thankful that I had the opportunity."
Perry, though, took lessons from the situation and learned from King.
"I learned a lot of things from [D’Eriq King] to be honest. One of the main things is the time, the time, and preparation that he puts into the game, it shows on game day," said Perry.
That’s the main thing I try to take from him and that’s what I try to do now. Put as much time in as I can into football, into film, no matter what it is, try to get better at something every day. King is very good at being in the facility at all times. So that’s one thing I try to do here, try to be here at all times.”
