I learn new stuff from JohnsJeansJeans-shorts all the time...
Like that UM built its own stadium...far away from the City of Miami...impressive.
And UF was a "presence" in Gainesville long before the University of Miami was built. Uh, sure, he got me there. Gainesville became the home of The University of Florida in 1903. The University of Miami was only founded in 1925. Although, in all fairness, the University of Florida didn't start admitting women as full-time students until 1946 and Blacks in 1962. But, yes, UF was a white-male "presence" in Gainesville from 1903.
Also, colleges/universities have to "make the history" of the cities they are in. I have no idea what that means. Never mind the fact that Coral Gables was the first master-planned city in the United States of America (Coral Gables) and the centerpiece of the plan was a world-class university.
Finally, please take note of the fact that a university has to be able to "afford" an "actual large student enrollment". I did not realize this. All along, I was under the impression that an "actual large student enrollment" at a state university was predicated on state taxpayer funding, which is not something that private schools receive.
Boy, that Jeans-shorts character has really taught me a lot today.
