Tears Gator Tears

Well, we all know that Gaytor fans are star whores, they will do anything, say anything, and suck anything for a 4-star (who will obviously get a Gaytor-Brand Bump in the rankings) or a 5-star (duh).

So now they have an article on some 4-star DT that they think they are going to pull from Louisiana. Get a load of this quote:

"Coach Turner, man, that's my guy right there," Lee said in an interview last month. "I love coach Turner. The way we hit it off when I went up there, we just clicked like that, instantly. He's a cool dude, too. I love coach Mullen, too. Coach Mullen tells me they're the only team in the top 10 of academics and athletics. That really stands out to me."

Now, most of you know my zero-tolerance on lies and liars. I don't care if it's a big lie or a little lie, but the most ridiculous of all is the "obviously factually incorrect lie".

So someone tell me ON WHAT PLANET is UF in any "top 10" of academics? National rankings? APR? Maybe he is limiting the ranking to "Florida public universities"?

And "top 10 in athletics"? How? Does he JUST mean football? And is he talking pre-August-24 or post-August-24?

This is just ridiculous. Next Mullen will be claiming that the Gaytors have ZERO racist fans, the best tight ends in college football, and a 5-star rating from the Tow Truck Operators and Impound Lot Managers of the Greater Gainesville Metropolitan Area Association.

He’s not wrong you know. UFailure absolutely is top 10 in academics AND athletics.

Top ten in the SEC.

SEC East.

Don't worry, they never ever ever ever just limit athletics to football.
They had a thread at some point that they were a top 10 athletic program when you factor in all the sports. That wouldn’t shock me. They’re not a top 10 academic school. Maybe they have some kind of gaytor Statistix that has a way of averaging the 2 out???

It’s kind of a worthless argument though as it relates to the football program. They can say they are in the 2nd tier of the SEC in football and their school ranks top 40 or 50 in academics.

I don’t think it matters. Kids playing football are choosing other schools with inferior academics over them.

I am sure there is some niche way they are top 10 academic. Maybe among power 5 conference members? Maybe it is academic in the athletic department if you include the entire department?

I will never forget back in the 90s talking about football, and the one guy I knew throwing in soccer, softball, volleyball, etc on how they are a good football program.

Agree that academics seems to be just lip service by recruits. Seen too many go to places where academics isn't even in the picture enough times after they say it is important to them.

Odd that they kids claiming “academics” the loudest never seem to have Stanford, Duke, Northwestern or Vanderbilt in their Top 20, much less ever commit there.

Women’s softball, men’s basketball and baseball, combined with football, have helped to put them in that type of group but for me, I only follow college football and there are a number of schools with relatively equal or better academics and good enough programs to get to the league from - Miami, Vandy, Wake, Northwestern, UNC, UVA, Stanford, Cal, Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas, USC, UCLA, Duke, Notre Dame, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Purdue... maybe Virginia Tech, at least for Engineering???

Its like getting a birthday card. You read it to make the person happy but all you really care about it the money or giftcard inside.

Only players right now that will get drafted and are eligible for next year's draft are CJ and Perrine. Marco could probably get drafted, but he'd be an idiot to leave given that he missed his sophmore year with a torn ACL.

I just don't see how they think Franks is going to get drafted. I didn't think any fanbase could be that delusional. But my god.

Their confidence in Franks is baffling. I guess.. when you win 10 games your QB will have his defenders. We had people swearing by Rosier even after he was benched. Franks has a lot of issues though. I'd like to see his numbers when pressured. He reminds me of Kaaya's panicked wtf do I do look when he sees the blitz coming. Franks just has decent enough legs to run away from pressure on occasion.
