Temp Check After 9 games:

Record:
-2024: 5-3* v. 2025: 8-1 (+2)
*Game 4 against NJIT was cancelled

Runs Scored:
-2024: 89 (8 games) v. 2025: 87 (9 games) (-2)

Runs Given Up (Earned & Unearned)
-2024: 37 (8 games) v. 2025: 16 (9 games) (+21)

Thus far we’ve shown to be a much improved team compared to last season, particularly pitching. Last yr we lost to FGCU midweek, & even though this is not the same FGCU as last season, they r still very capable, giving UF all they could handle barely losing that series 2-1.

Last year our pitching allowed **** poor teams to hang around, to the point we lost to teams like FGCU & LIU. This team, thus far, seems to be more complete. HOWEVER, as I said during last football & baseball seasons, respectively, we’ll know what team we really have when the calendar flips.

If we lose another series to UF, but more importantly “how” we lose, then it could be a telltale. On the other hand, if we win that series, we might have something special this yr.

Thus far, I’m much happier this time around after 9 games than last season, for sure; let’s keep this train on the track & shut these mofos up, up Norf!
 
We still don't know how it'll scale against ACC caliber opposition, but I feel pretty comfortable that we can cross the worse than last year end of the predictions off.

So far they're tracking with my preseason expectation that this group would do a better job of taking care of business in the games you should win.

Hopefully, this weekend they surprise us, and show signs that my expectations were too low.
