Game 17: 3/9/25 UCONN

B/c their pitching stinks & they have only 3 guys to do damage which is Minick, Daniels, & MacArthur. This team didn’t have a lot of pop until this weekend. They’re also a high strikeout team, which is y @ErickMarreroU was thumping his chest on Friday “lol’ing” at them having a 10% chance to win “a game” against us this weekend.

We r not a good team; I questioned the vast majority of the portal additions, & I was gravely concerned about pitching. So yeah, UCONN looked great against us, but let’s not conflate them looking great against us w/ them being a good team. We should’ve smoked them this weekend.
I think you both are way closer in your thinking on both squads (particularly us) than initial reactions via phone screen would indicate.

When I post things, I really wish u guys would stop responding to me as if I’m sort of casual. I’m a sports junkie, & unlike most, I watch way more teams than Miami baseball/football.

Prior to playing us. They’ve played 4 top teams:
PSU, FAU, Vandy, UCLA while losing to 3 mediocre teams in Stetson, Mizzou, & USC.

As I said, UCONN is not a good team this season.
We are not a good team…actually we are a bad team full of old portal guys who will be gone next year! Going to be a long season where we will probably do what we just did in the last 2 series. Lose 2 out of 3

Again I'm confused why you felt I approached you as a casual because I agree with most of your points here. I just disagree with your point that we're saying they're good because we lost. As you said, we should have smoked this team as a ACC school should. All I'm simply saying is that UCONN was just pitching away from being a G5 team that makes serious noise, which is something that I said before this series during the previews. I respect your opinion, and if UCONN amounts to nothing this season I will gladly eat my words, but watching the way they scrap for runs and extra bases is a sign of a team that becomes a pest in postseason play

My apologies, I didn’t see this post. I shouldn’t have generalized u in my response, as per ur post history u’re spot on.

So allow to me to explain my position on UCONN; I want to say back in 2021 their baseball team came on my radar. I thought they were a team that could be a problem, & indeed they were. I only root for The Canes, but I’ll pay attention to certain programs that r either our direct opposition (UNC, FSU, UF) or that fly under the radar (UCONN, Campbell, East Carolina).

This season UCONN has not looked good. Scrappy? Yes, but that discipline on both sides hasn’t been there. Even when they started slow last season, u could see signs of a solid team that could get hot. I haven’t seen it this year outside a couple of MLB level players they have.

I knew, in my heart, we would win at least 2/3, but we were “this” close to getting swept. If this was the 2024 Huskies I wouldn’t be seething, but this iteration hasn’t looked good, thus far. With that being said, they did beat Vandy prior to us, so I’ll take that as a silver lining to a mediocre weekend. I’ll be following their season b/c this is a program that’s done more w/ less, & they’ve intrigued me.
